10,000 steps a day - I nailed it! Every day in January. That means I sometimes had to walk in the rain, many times had to walk in the dark, and definitely had to get it in where I fit it in.
Drink less wine & more water - I nailed this one, too! Except I didn't drink that much more water, but I did drink less wine.
Get more sleep - I have moved my frame of mind to bed at 10 instead of 11 and this has helped a lot. It doesn't mean I always go to bed at 10, but I definitely don't stay up past 11. This is the hardest one for me because I love staying up late. But, Joze loves getting up early so for now I need to get my ass in bed.
1 political action a week (or 52 a year): So far this year I have 1) marched in a huge (yuge) protest, 2) called my senators to not confirm Betsy Davos, 3) donated to the ACLU, 4) reached out to a very angry and very conservative donor to have a serious chat about the issues and 5) sent an email to Feinstein about why I marched.
We are right smack dab in the middle of my two busiest weeks hopefully for awhile (but I doubt it!). I have a board meeting this afternoon, followed by a big event, then tomorrow I have another event I am cohosting at the Fed, then I have to teach tomorrow night.
Next week, we have a big ole gala on Wednesday night for which I am responsible for the video (there's something wrong with my English in that sentence) and then of course I teach again next Thursday.
I am rocking and rolling though and it is all going just fine.
I am also trying to keep up on my weekly act of resistance!! I sent an email this week to Senator Feinstein but what I am most concerned about is this trick Besty Devos becoming the Secretary of Education. I'll work on that soon.
Finally, despite being busy I have managed to get 10,000 steps every day this year. Boom.
Here's a picture of a giant baby eating a banana. I hope to see you soon. All of you. I'll see her later.
I spent the day driving around socal in the rain. I had an appointment down in Irvine, and had to pick up one of the professors who was joining me in Los Alamitos. Lots of car time but I had a good couple of meetings and got a lot of work done.
I am the only one who can't put my toddler to bed. Babe reads her a story, says night night and walks out. She turns over and goes to sleep. Last night (Babe is out of town - and will be out of town like 7 days in the next month) it took me an hour to get her to bed. She was THISCLOSE to climbing out of her crib. She slept through the night for the first time in awhile though so I am feeling #blessed anyways.
I didn't watch Obama's farewell address. I taped it so I can have a good cry later.
Office day for me! I am hopefully banging out a bunch of work.
It was raining this morning but now it is beautiful!
I listened to one of my favorite people on the radio this morning, Rhys Darby, and I am still laughing at his jokes.
My first day of teaching! My boss and I are co-teaching a graduate course in our nonprofit leadership and management program. Wish me luck people!
It will be a full moon tomorrow, so there should be a lot of emotional people running around. Also, werewolves.
it was a chill weekend! in part because babe and buddy went up to the bay area for babe's work christmas party. they flew up friday morning and came back saturday afternoon. here is buddy at babe's work. we were supposed to go but because of joze's horrible cold, she and i stayed back.
and ate dinner with our feet up.
and took selfies.
ate out, with my sister ang who is never pictured i dont know why.
nice pic of joze's body. those pants are brand new and both the pants and the shirt are 3t. she is 19 months old.
buddy showed joze where she was going to go to pre-school, kindergarten and laup.
and we tried on a hat.
not pictured here: two dates with babe, a cake made by my sister, and at least 10,000 steps a day!
it was a somewhat long "vacation" because Josie was sick most of the time but there were definitely moments of relaxation and pure happiness. The pic above is on NYE night when we stayed up and played games and took this picture. Obv that is Josie in the monitor.
My folks came over which always cheers me, plus they always encourage me and Babe to go on a date, so we were able to run out and grab a beer which was awesome. Here's me and my girls saying bye.
