After soccer on Saturday, we went down to San Diego for my sister's and my beeday. We took Sunny to see our favorite comedian Jo Koy and my other sister and a baby sitter watched the children. Sunday me and the Nav got our nails done, then we went to Vista for lunch and to check out couple breweries. Then, we went to our pals house to carve pumpkins. It was a blast you guys!

roomates

I couldn't sleep the other night, which used to happen to me all the time, and now rarely does. Somehow I starting thinking of all the roomates I've had in my life.

For your review:

  1. My first roommates (after my family, of course), were in the Freeborn Dorm at Cal. I had a triple and one of the gals was named Julie Kim. She was very sweet a little older. She was really nice to me. The other was a nice gal named Michelle, she was a Jehovah's Witness, so I was FASCINATED.
  2. The summer between freshman and sophomore year, I shared a studio apartment with my sister on 33rd and 3rd in Manhattan. It was so fun and so hot that summer.
  3. My second roommate was supposed to be Jolene, but she didn't come back to Cal that year. So, I had to find one through a corkboard in the student union. Her name was Rachel and we had the same birthday. She was from Nebraska and I sort of hated her.
  4. I then found some awesome friends to move in with and moved into the Peach Pit in Berkeley. That summer I lived with two summer sublets, one was a guy named Jaddua who was RAD. He was from Fresno and he was kind of out there but in all the good wasy. The other was this couple named Jenny and Caleb and they had a boa constrictor, I kid you not.
  5. Then, the two girls who I was supposed to live with moved in: one was my life partner GUS and the other was this Portuguese chick named Liz who had controle tattooed on her lady parts. Not kidding.
  6. Then, me and Gus shared a place.
  7. Then, I moved into the Big House with five other people and we had so much fun. Each of those people brought a unique quality to the house and were in general pretty much super good roommates.
  8. Then, I had my own place for one year.
  9. Then, I moved in with Babe.

the view from my hotel window.

this morning

As I was getting ready, I walked by the bathroom where Buddy had just finished brushing her teeth.

She was standing there and she looked sad. I said what's a matter, buddy?

She said "I wish I could have some ice cream right now."

I said "oh. Well, I wish I could have a million dollars" and I walked into my room.

She went over to one of her piggy banks and started to shake out some money. She gave me about 26 cents in small change. I said "oh babe, you should keep your money!" She said "no I want you to have it."

I said "okay I'll put it in my big change thing at work."

She said, no use it buy yourself something.

favorite pic from yesterday

Buddy, driving in Autopia, one of the most random rides at Disneyland. She was so fun yesterday dude. I mean Buddy is definitely one of the most fun people I know, but Buddy at Disney rocks the house down.

quick updates

  • I took sash to mickey's Halloween party last night. it was so fun, she was so good and I loved the night very much.
  • this means we are both dragging today! I was tired before I went, i'm super tired now.
  • I am spending the day at the "real estate women's forum" because we are starting to do events around women in real estate so it's a good idea to find out what others are saying.
  • the event is at The Ebell of Los Angeles. This cool old theater space is in mid-city, super hard to get to from anywhere not right next door. It is a neat old space, lots of cool old oil paintings, a big outdoor space in the middle. The website tells me it is a site for weddings as well as filming, and it says that the Wedding Crashers was filmed here. You'd like it.
  • The conference is interesting and although I'm not doing much networking (see bullet 2, tired), I'm getting my learn on which is great.
  • For some reason, I'm having a hard time getting photos from my phone onto this laptop, so you may see photos from Disney later in the day, or even tomorrow. hope your day is great!

Recipe

I like to share with you the recipes that are winners. Here is one:

Chicken and Cashew Lettuce Wraps (I made this for Samoi's last socal meal.)
Original Real Simple Recipe here I DIDNT MAKE VERY MANY CHANGES.

INGREDIENTS

  1. 3tablespoons low-sodium soy sauce
  2. 3tablespoons honey
  3. 2tablespoons canola oil - I JUST HAVE VEGETABLE OIL. I THINK ITS THE SAME THING.
  4. pounds boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into ¾-inch pieces
  5. black pepper
  6. 2cloves garlic, finely chopped
  7. 1tablespoon grated ginger
  8. 1bunch scallions, trimmed and sliced
  9. 18-ounce can sliced water chestnuts, drained
  10. ¼cup roasted unsalted cashews
  11. 1small head Boston or Bibb lettuce, leaves separated

DIRECTIONS

  1. Combine the soy sauce and honey in a small bowl. Set aside.
  2. Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  3. Season the chicken with ½ teaspoon pepper and cook, stirring occasionally, until it begins to brown, about 3 minutes.
  4. Lower heat to medium and stir in the garlic and ginger. Add the scallions and cook for 1 minute.
  5. Stir in the water chestnuts and half the soy sauce mixture. Continue cooking until the chicken is cooked through, about 4 minutes. Remove from heat and sprinkle with the cashews.
  6. Divide the lettuce leaves among plates and spoon the chicken over the top. Serve with the remaining soy sauce mixture for drizzling.
