We had a lot of guests this weekend and got to see a bunch of friends and family. We ate all the food and drank all the beer. It was joyful and funny and super chill.

Weekend at home pics

We mostly stayed home this weekend, and played with toys like this new hula hoop.

I found this beer from NYC here in LA!

Took a lot of walks and looked at these toes.

My parents came over and my dad made Josie laugh.

These two.

Voluminous pantaloons
Climbing the tree

Look who rides a bike without training wheels!

Haiku Friday

Meetings in Long Beach,
First at the long beach yacht club,
Now at the chamber.

It's nice to be out
of the office meeting with
All sorts of people.

Makes me happier,
Than sitting in my office
At the computer.

Open House

Yesterday, our little family went to Buddy's kindergarten for open house. It was outstanding.

Here are a few pics - there was art and fun stuff to look at everywhere.

This is a little hard to see but it was hanging from the ceiling, and it's Buddy as a bee.

Buddy hugging her kindergarten teacher.

I like my underwear because it has coluros on the underwear because I like it.

Buddy's poem about her sister.

Showing us the books she has worked on at her tiny desk.

This is a pop up book and when you open it, there is Buddy.

Did I tell you I registered Buddy for the first grade?

Chill weekend pics!

On Saturday mornings, we walk to get donuts (we walk all over the place now) and we came upon a yard sale where I got all these tiny beenie babies in their packages for $1.00. Total. That's like ten cents each!
Babe took Buddy to a beeday party (alliteration!) where she ice skated like a champ!
Auntie watched the girls so we went on a date.
We ate breakfast at the Mexican joint in our nabe, a short walk from our house!
Auntie and Joze lounged in the backyard.
These two get along great. 😍

Haiku Friday

The dodger game was fun.
It was a super quick game
And the doyers won.

I just love baseball,
Even if it's the Dodgers -
But that stadium!!

Chavez ravine might
Rank as one of the coolest
Ball parks in the land.

Waiting for the Malagasy Delegation

We are here waiting for the Madagascar delegation to arrive (they are stuck in traffic) and so I am sharing pictures of the baby doing cute things, like eating and "resting" and playing with her sissy.

5 things, super fast

  1. Dude! It was so hot in Sacramento! I guess if you are in the middle of the state, you have no marine layer. It's so grey here and just a tad bit on the chilly side. You know I love this weather.
  2. This might be the busiest week I've had in a while. Yesterday was Sacramento, tomorrow after work is the doyers for Joseph's birthday and Friday is commencement - a joyous event for those participating in it, and the event most loathed by people who work at a university.
  3. This faux fit bit thing I have is really a game changer. I get up and walk more often, and strive for 10,000 steps a day. In order to get my 10,000 steps I have to walk about 75 minutes, so that usually boils down to two or three walks a day! GET UP!
  4. I want to call Josie Chewy because she makes this Chewbacca cry when she sees me and wants to get to me. I LOVE HER.
  5. Nope, just four things.

Mother's Day Pics

I took a walk in the morning and got these pics of San Diego.

This picture of Josie is My Life.

the little things

I have a short work trip today up to Sacramento and back again. It's the little things that make work fun, like being able to fly by yourself, with no children and just be at the airport working with no crazy people talking atcha in your office trying to make the day all stressful.

I like Sacramento, I've only been there a handful of times but I like the chill pace and the old buildings and the trees. The first time I went to Sacramento was to see a Pearl Jam concert at the Arco Arena with Babe and GUS and Sammy-oi. I don't know when that was, but I'm guessing late 90s. Babe and I went up and stayed at a charming B&B when I had to take me GRE before applying to graduate school, early 2000s.

I've gone for work meetings maybe twice since I started at USC and once we flew there before driving to Tahoe.  I think it would be a nice place to live, although it gets a little hot and I'm not moving.

Anyways, I think I am going to get a lot of work done today and hopefully this visit will result in a gift for the school, but either way it's a nice change of pace in a job where no two days are really the same anyway.

If you have a five year old you should take a vacation day and take her to Disneyland whenever you can.

May

I love the month of May! This month we usually have a lot to do.

It's all gloomy and not too hot in Los Angeles for once. Dig the marine layer, kids!

There are a ton of birthdays this month. Including:

  • JOY
  • Cindy
  • BFF/Joseph
  • Nava
  • Mila
It's also Mother's Day and my parent's annivesary.

Today is Star Wars day, which is cute. (May the 4th be with you.)

At my work, it's commencement which is sincerely not a fun day to be at work, but whatever.

Memorial Day is usually a nice three day break.

I'm taking Buddy to Disney tomorrow, because BFF is going with her family.

It's my niece's bat mitzvah on Saturday! She is going to be 13 years old.

Here she is when she was about 2?

There you have it. My laundry list of activities for May. I hope you enjoyed that.
