Weekend pics - one day late

Little sash got her hair cut for school!

We went to lunch on Manhattan beach.

And Josie climbed everything.

That's pretty much what we spent the weekend doing, watching Josie climb everything. Then when you take her down she screams and stomps her feet.

Haiku Friday

All day Josie says:
Sasha. Over and over.
She says dada too.

"Hi" and "bubbles" too.
She also waves, blows kisses and
Dances to all music.

Does she say mama?
No, she does not. Why not guys?
Cuz she's a stinker.

Hey, guys!

I have a year and a few months til I turn forty!

I've been meaning to tell you about my #goals. I'm working towards being fitbyforty, which can mean any number of things.

I've been making small changes into habits so when I turn forty, I'll be set for the second half of my life with real healthy habits.

One of those is walking 10,000 steps, or five miles, every day. On an average day, it takes me an additional 75 minutes of walking in my day to make 7,500 steps.

Well, I clearly don't have an extra 75 minutes to do this in one go.

So, every morning for the past month or so me and the little girls have gone on a "pokemon walk" around one or two blocks, in my neighborhood. We have a poke-stop about a block from our house, so we go there, around a block, back to the stop and home. It's a 20 minute walk.

It's a new habit!

Here's  a pic of Sash with a very difficult to capture Pokemon, this morning.

Haiku Friday

At terrenea
For an all day staff retreat
All about teamwork

But, we're fundraisers.
So...you know not a team sport.
It's real nice here though.

I can't wait to walk
Around the resort at lunch.
And see some dolphins!

A mother's advice

I love these features on the NY Times website that talk about the back story - a historical perspective on some of the stuff that is happening in politics.

Here's the one from today:

Back Story

Marriage became an issue in the 1916 presidential election after President Woodrow Wilson’s first wife, Ellen, died in 1914 and he wed Edith Galt, the owner of a jewelry business in the capital, the next year.
The female reaction to Wilson’s remarriage worried his chief advisers, but he went on to carry most of the states where women were allowed to vote.

Their support helped push Wilson to endorse in 1918 a bill guaranteeing all American women the right to vote. The 19th Amendment did so and was ratified on this day in 1920, when Tennessee became the 36th state to pass it.
The number of female voters has exceeded the number of male voters in every presidential election since 1964.
A major drive for suffrage began in 1848, in Seneca Falls, N.Y., and was carried on in state legislatures, in Congress and in the streets.
Black men had won the right to vote with the 15th Amendment in 1870, but little was done to enforce that guarantee. Some in the women’s suffrage movement argued that women’s votes would balance those of newly enfranchised black men and immigrants, helping the 19th Amendment’s passage.
Most of the southern states had been opposed to it. But after a nine-day special session, a young Tennessee legislator changed his mind and cast the deciding vote.
Representative Harry T. Burn carried a letter from his mother in his pocket. “Hurry and vote for suffrage,” she wrote. “Don’t forget to be a good boy.”
He later explained: “I know that a mother’s advice is always safest for her boy to follow, and my mother wanted me to vote for ratification.”

Staycation part 2, day 1

We were all planning to be in Wisconsin this week but we had to delay our trip because sometimes life happens.

In any case, I still took the week off and later in the week we got an air bnb in eastern San Diego.

Anyway, yesterday my sibling wanted to take the sash to legoland so I said sure dude! I'll go hang with my mom and dad.

Traffic was easy both ways, the girls had a blast and I got to hang out with my peeps.

It was a good day!

Weekend pics

We mostly stayed home this weekend. Girls did some cleaning.

Spent some time at the park. I took a walk in the morning.

I took sash with me for my mani pedi.

Babe took sash to the zoo. We had pals visit from the bay. Delicious!
