happy holidays!

Nothing says happy holidays like a 6 year old, am I right people?
Buddy has been a big fan of Christmas for years, but this is the year that she wakes up every day and counts how many days til Christmas.

I love it.

I feel as though we used to employ Santa as a tool more in previous years, but her good behavior is through the roof right now. I think I've only pulled the Santa is watching card one time this season.

Last night, she put her sissy to bed. She got in her crib and put a blankie on her and read her bedtime stories.

Today we went and watched her performance. The kids sang I want a hippopotamus for Christmas, a song I could frankly do without, and Jingle Bell Rock which is awesome.

We've got three more days! Today is my last day of work and I am off tomorrow but not really telling people (ie, the nanny). I am going to do some shopping and maybe go to a movie. Ha!

Haiku Friday

happy holidays!
Going to my tenth party.
This one with my team.

It rained here last night.
Didn't deter alumni
From our wee mixer.

It was damn festive.
With beautiful carolers
And hot cocoa too.

a lot of people are down on 2016 (can you blame them?!).

but i have to tell you, 2016 has given me so many tremendous gifts.

i would say one of the most important gifts of 2016 is that i am really searching for and appreciating all the beauty in the world.

Two of my sisters sent these absolutely gorgeous pictures that they both took, separately this morning of the beauty they say when they went outside. i love them!

weekend pics

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas
Ev'rywhere you go;

Take a look in the five-and-ten, glistening once again
With candy canes and silver lanes aglow.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas,
Toys in ev'ry store,

But the prettiest sight to see is the holly that will be
On your own front door.

A pair of hopalong boots and a pistol that shoots
Is the wish of Barney and Ben;

Dolls that will talk and will go for a walk
Is the hope of Janice and Jen;
 And Mom and Dad can hardly wait for school to start again.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas
Ev'rywhere you go;

There's a tree in the Grand Hotel, one in the park as well,

The sturdy kind that doesn't mind the snow.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas;

Soon the bells will start,

And the thing that will make them ring is the carol that you sing

Right within your heart.

haiku friday

I took a sick day.
my little girls got me sick.
they are better now.

I haven't been sick
in almost two years. I was
pregnant last time, though.

this wasn't too bad.
but no one needs sick people
at the workplace. yuck.

18 months!

The other day, I took the remote from Joze because she was playing with it.

So, she walked away from me and laid down on her face in the kitchen.

Eighteen months old today.

haiku friday

bad dreams all night long
last night was too stressful, man.
I hate work stress dreams.

the coliseum
had me trapped and I couldn't
get to babe and sash.

so many delays,
kept me from my family
all work related.

I had the opportunity to record another Podcast for the Bedrosian Center at my work. It was about the book Drown by Junot Diaz, which is a collection of short stories about growing up in the suburbs of New Jersey and the Dominican.

It was a good time and if you're interested in listening to me talk to a bunch of professors about this terrific book you can listen here:

a few weekend pics

It was such a nice long weekend. We did all kinds of fun stuff, and some days didn't do very much at all.

We celebrated Thanksgiving on Friday this year, giving us Thursday as a free day. May I recommend this to you as a thing to do.
On Thanksgiving we went to Venice Beach and walked around.

Took in the canals and all the unbelievably beautiful homes.

We then hit up Three Weavers to grab some beer for Thanksgiving.

The kids painted a castle on Turkey Day.

Sash got new peejays.

I took Joze to the library to make crafts.

We made this cool house.
My sister took the children to the grove and took this magical picture.

We also went to The Point and it was blustery!

Here's my little first grader.

and here's the stinker baby.

happy beeday babe!

happy birthday to Babe!

Big cheese, I hope all your burgers have eggs on them this year.
And I hope all your beers are IPAs.
And I hope you get to to go Disney with Buddy at least ten times.
And I hope you get to sleep a lot.
Those are my birthday wishes for you.

weekend pics

this isnt a great pic of any of the children, but what i love about it that there are four in a row and little joze is right in the mix with the other three!

We went to see Pennywise at the Ventura Theater and I will have to devote an entire blog post to that, later. I will say this, I saw them there, 20 years ago and it was much crazier this time.

me and babe havinga good ol time.

then, sunday,  got to reunite these two besties at a baby shower. What a gorgeous and fun weekend.

oh, and this.
