three weeks (and a day)

Josie turned 3 weeks old yesterday and I must say these past three weeks of her life have been a whirlwind. Let me explain.

Week 1 - Josie basically flew into the world in a few hours. My water broke at 11 and after driving myself to the hospital and checking myself in (haha) (but seriously) I was hooked up and rolling around 2pm. She came to the world at 5:58 pm in a quick and painful rush. That week we came home for a minute and ended up going back to the hospital. So, we ended up spending her first week in the hospital.

Week 2 - This week was a little less hectic than that first week, but Buddy had her graduation and then started her vacation on Friday.

Week 3 - This past week, Buddy was on vacation so we three spent every minute together and that was a little bit crazy! Then we had Buddy's birthday and even though we "just" had a family party it was still very busy!

But now, I am home just with Ms. Josie. I drop buddy off in the morning and pick her up in the afternoon. I had a lot of time yesterday to just stare at Josie while she nursed and we also took a nap together. It was pretty much a perfect day.

Buddy Vacation

So, Buddy is off of school this week which would usually mean all kinds of excursions because vacation is awesome.

However, I have a two week old baby and had a baby two weeks ago so not so much with the excursions.

We made a little "Buddy Vacation List" and here it is:

- Get a toy
- Go to a museum
- Go to a movie
- Go swimming
- Go biking every day
- Have fun at home
- Kiss baby, hold her and hug her

She is in swim lessons, which her dad takes her to. We definitely go biking every day. No one has ever kissed a baby more than Buddy with Josie. We got a toy at Targer yesterday.

Today we are attempting the movie. Say Good Luck!

Happy Father's Day

Happy Father's Day!

I love my dad, you guys. He's a really good Grampa, too. I can't begin to tell you how lucky I feel to have my pops in my life and Buddy's and now Josie's life. I WILL WEEP.

Here's me and  my pops ten years ago in front of the Met. Happy Father's Day Dad!

I will take a picture later of Babe and his offspring so that I may also celebrate The Father of My Children on this day.

Father's Day weekend.
How will you celebrate it?
With some beer perhaps?

Not sure what we'll do.
My dad is coming Monday.
Sunday is Babe's day.

I know just the gift.
I just need someone to come
Hold Josie real quick!

That's her garbage pail kid name.
She turned too yellow.

Baking under lamps.

I'd rather be home.

Cute and Home

So yah.

We are home now.

Got a new tiny tiny tiny best friend to go with small and regular sized.

She sure sleeps good. (In the day time!)

We've got the next four months to chill and play and eat and sleep and poop.

Come visit!

High school and then to college
It kept time for me.

But now it's time to say bye.
And get a new clock.

#tbt

I dont like talking about or thinking about high school too much. Lots of reasons. But today I was looking in a box for thank you cards and lo! My high school year book was right on top.

So, without further ado, here:

My senior picture.

Me and Joseph all deep at the senior retreat. Yes those with the keen eyesight, thats Patrick Paumberg in the background.
And here is some guy named Damien freaking on Sister Anne Eugene.

You are welcome

June Gloom!

Dude, so growing up in the coastal town of Oxnard, June Gloom was my life! I don't think they called it that. I guess it was called the "Marine Layer?" What it basically amounts to is an overcast sky from morning til mid to late afternoon. And it is frequent in the month of June.

So, you know me, you know I love weather. Of any type. I love the rain, I love the sun, I freaking love it when it snows. I like a variation I guess is what I'm saying.

Moving to SoCal nearly four years ago, I gave up on that. There's no variation, dude. At least the first couple of years we were here we had some rain, sometimes.

Our little tiny box in Culver City was in no way air tight, so if it rained you would get dribbles pretty much all over the house. Then, about two years ago the rain just went and dried on up. It has probably rained 5 times in the last two years?

Anywho, this year we are really getting our share of June Gloom and I freaking love it. It's all cozy and grey and cozy. And grey. It's not all hot. For once.

Thats all.

working from home/not working

So, technically the Doc told me not to go to work this week. But, I have been working from home because I wasn't *quite* ready to not go back to work for the next, you know, four months? I also have an important event this Thursday but whatever. They can handle it.

Anyways, so spent many hours on the phone yesterday on my couch. While doing so, I came across a lot of old photo booth pictures on this computer. So, here you go:

That one is me, yesterday, conducting my business. The rest are from over the past four plus years.

Meatless Monday?

It seems like every Monday we have my favorite dish, so I'm sharing the recipe with you. It's less of a recipe and more of a method, so hang with me. If you try it, I promise you'll like it.

Pasta with whatever you have in the fridge plus some pantry items

  • Start a huge pot of boiling water. As it boils assemble your ingrediants. Here are some things you'll need; you should have most of them already.
  • Garlic or onion.
  • Any type of greens (spinach, arugula, even Kale unless you're Joseph)
  • Tomatos, any amount and any type, even canned
  • Olives or pepperocini
  • Any bacon? Ham? Sausage? - I usually go meatless, but whatever. It's up to you.
  • Lemon or lime or chicken broth
  • Red chili pepper flakes
  • Parmesan
Now that you've assembled any of the above, you can get started on the cooking.
  • Chop up some garlic or onion. I prefer garlic.
  • Chop your tomatoes (or open a can), then drain them and salt them and set them aside.
  • Heat a large frying pan with olive oil.
  • Add your garlic and some red chili flakes
  • Heat up the sausage or ham (or don't)
  • Add your tomatoes and stir
  • Add your greens (or don't)
  • Add some lemon or lime or chicken broth, just enough to add flavor and wilt the greens.
  • Add your olives or pepperocini. (or both)
  • At this point, you pasta should be done. Drain it and add it to your pan. Mix it up and eat it with some parm. It's my favorite!

Weekend pics

Last teeball game! I think Buddy's hanging up the uniform.

She's still one of the best runners on the team though.
First trophy. She loved it.
My two besties. Doc pretty much mandated that I chill out so Babe took Buddy to the zoo on Sunday.

And then they went on a bike ride.
Babe says Buddy makes friends wherever she goes.
I asked Buddy to take my pic so you could see my giant belly but she just took a picture of my face.
