I was just reading what Buddy was like as a 6 week old and it seemed a lot more complicated. Haha. Her sleep anyways. We had two people involved and it included babe getting up at 2am to do a feeding. I'm betting everything was more complicated because there were bottles involved.
As of right now and basically since she was born, I nurse her every one to three hours in the day. She cat naps in the morning but takes a marathon 3 - 4 hour nap in the afternoon.
She gets a little bit "fussy" from about 6-8pm, which means she mostly wants to nurse the whole time. That's generally fine except other people in this house have to eat too! So I haven't figured out a way to nurse and make dinner. She hollers a bit or babe or Buddy try to keep her occupied.
Anyways, around 8:30 or 9, babe gives her a bottle that I have pumped throughout the day. He puts her in her little bassinette and there she sleeps til about 2am.Then she wakes up usually at 5am then for the day around 7am.
I have to say I am feeling lucky. The last couple of nights Josie has slept til 330 the first time and I was in heaven.
So, there you go. That's the routine as it were. We're not too wedded to a schedule but when I break it down in writing I can kind of see it there.
- Josie is six weeks old (and a day). I told Babe I can't believe Josie is six weeks but then I thought six weeks isn't very old. She is still brand new.
- i have ten more weeks of leave (at least). Hopefully it goes by slowly and when it is done I feel ready to go back and not devastated.
- Did you know Josie is a little dinosaur because of all the noises she makes?
- I am at doc for my six week check up. When I did this with Buddy I took the subway in and wore her. Some nurse had to hold her during my check up and she screamed like mad. This time, I drove and Josie is asleep next to me.
- I am not so interesting these days so thanks for sticking with me. I spend most of my time nursing. Haha.
I like to head to one of the two Starbucks within walking distance of mi casa. I grab a small iced coffee and walk home, feeling good about myself for my commitment to physical fitness.
It's funny because I am usually passed by no less than five moms running and pushing strollers, sweating their tiny asses of while I chat on the phone, drinking my beverage, carrying my infant in her pack.
On Friday I finally got to see Buddy do the diving board!
We went out to eat Friday and did errands and stuff like the farmers market. I don't have many pics. Auntie took buddy on a couple dates so Babe and I could have a beer with Josie in her little car seat. It was a good weekend!
Little Josephine is one month old today! I will put up a picture later but let me tell you a little bit about her.
I am getting her weighed and measured tomorrow so I'll let you know how much she's grown in the past month.
She is a very peaceful little baby. She doesn't cry a whole lot but she can definitely let it go when she needs to. She loves to eat and eats about every hour and a half when she's awake. She'll sleep for two long stretches, one in the day and one in the night about 4 hours. At night she'll sometimes go a little longer. She shows me her eyeballs more and more, I'd say she's awake most of the morning and most of the early evening.
According to the Buddy one month post, Buddy was smiling a lot at this point. Josie has smiled a few times but I wouldn't say a lot. Like Buddy, Josie has had a lot of visitors. She is very comfortable being held by anyone and really only cries when she is hungry or she has to burp.
She makes cute faces and has bright eyes. She has dark straight hair and her eyeballs are still gray. She stares at her big sister a lot.
As for me, I'm doing just fine. I take Buddy to school ("Camp") in the daytime around 8:45 and go get her around 3pm. Sometimes earlier. I take a walk every day with Josie in my pack. I read a lot and she eats a lot so that's really the extent of my day. I tidy the house every day and do chores.
We do one little outing a day. I noticed I got a manicure when Buddy turned one, month maybe that's in order for today? Yesterday was CVS. I know - don't get too crazy right?
I was working on a thoughtful post about how we moved here four years (and a week) ago and all the accomplishments and ups and downs but I ran out of time. So, I am just telling you instead. We moved here to California four years and a week ago!
Also, happy birthday today to Grown Up Sasha! And to Rachel! Except I think Rachel's beeday is tomorrow.
