A few more updates

Listen - did you know even if you update your address with the DMV in regards to your registration you need to update for your license separately?

The DMV was super fast thanks to my appointment.

The auto body place less so.

Here are some pictorial updates as well:

Practicing for my new license picture. Got my hair done yesterday.

Yesterday I toured the Water Treatment Plant in El Segundo, for work, on my day off. The ocean looked crazy amazing.

Your Wednesday Updates

I am at the DMV today. I am hopeful that I will no longer be driving illegally. Fingers crossed.

I never knew that Hawthorne Blvd. turned into La Brea.

I went Christmas shopping yesterday and mostly supported small, local businesses. One of my friends opened a boutique and I spent a lot of money there. J and Grey boutique on Washington Blvd if you live in LA.

After I get my license renewed I am going to drop off my car to get it fixed.

There's your updates.

christmas lists!

The past two years, I created a wee Christmas list on my blog for all* to see.

I started working on this year's and I realized I don't really want anything (except jewelry, of course. And a subscription to the dry bar. And boots from Nordstrom's.)

I know what a I really want.

I would like some time.

I would like many hours to clean out my house and all the kid's clothes and toys and my closet. I would like to go through the drawers in the bathroom and throw away the stuff we've amassed over the last two years living in this house.

I would like to make a hair appointment any time of the day and go get my hair cut. I'd like to schedule a massage. I'd like to go grocery shopping and make several healthy meals, not frozen pizza or mac n cheese.

I would like to have a glass of wine with my husband while wearing a pretty top that I bought at a nice store (to match my new boots from Nordies, of course) and then a lovely dinner.

So, how bout that Santa? I've been super good.

  • As you saw, little Joze is six months old and a day!
  • She weighs 20.1 pounds. Hefty little baby. That puts her in the 98th percentile for weight. Bleesh. She's tall at 28 inches, off the percentile chart.
  • In terms of milestones, she's right on target. She can sit up for awhile before she flops over. She likes to eat her little foods - bananas, and apples, and pears and whatever else. Sweet potatoes are her favorite. She takes two bottles a day while I'm at work and has been holding her bottle for about a month I think. She still takes about 3 naps a day, two short and one long(ish). She can turn over and usually get herself back to the other side, but not consistently.
  • She got four vaccines today!
  • Little Buddy got her first report card. She got all 4s except for one 3. The three was for this: "Uses combination of drawing, dictating and writing to compose narrative, opinion, and informative/explanatory pieces." Got that?
  •  I have more than one meeting every day this week.
  • Joze sleeps pretty good...until about 3am then she's up for an hour or sometimes two, just chatting and talking. She's so cute. I want to throw myself from the window. But my house is only one story.
  • I have 75 Christmas cards, on my table, at home, wrapped in plastic just waiting. Waiting to be sent out.
  • We have 16 days til Christmas?

Out of office

I took the day today to deal with stuff. I went to Geico, got an estimate for the car. About $3,000 to fix it, I pay the deductible ($500) until they get it back from the guy who ran into me.

Went to CHP to get the police report, in Torrance.

Tried to get a new phone but ended up in a full on rage at the phone store.

Flu shot. Nap. Folding clothes. A few work emails but not a lot.

Little Joze is all better I think. At least I think so. She didn't have a fever anymore this morning. Everyone keeps telling me it's her teeth. She is definitely teething, so  I guess that could be it?

Here's another cute pic from Thanksgiving!

And here's Joze eating bananas:

She looks like any one of my sisters or me as a baby in that pic.

Podcast, and self-promotion

Yeah, so I read this book for the Bedrosian Center Bookclub, and then I did the podcast with them. I haven't listened to the whole thing but the parts I have listened to, I don't sound like a total ass, so here you go, if you want to listen:  https://soundcloud.com/uscbedrosian/rez-life

If you do the podcast thing on iTunes, you can find it here.

You guys!

We totally got hit by a drunk driver driving home from San Diego on Thanksgiving!

I was driving in the car pool lane going North on the 405 It was 10:30 at night and I was in the home stretch, about 8 miles from home.

Anyways, all of a sudden there is this loud BOOOOOOOM and the Subaru gets knocked to the left. Luckily, I am an incredibly conscientious driver (10 and 2 baby) and had both hands on the wheel, so we stayed in our line.

Babe wakes up and says WHAT THE F*&! WAS THAT?

We saw the car jamming off the freeway, a white sedan, must have been going about 90 miles an hour, because I was going 75 at least.

So, I begin to exit the freeway and I see what I think is his car on the Carson exit, all smashed headfirst into the guard rail.

I call 911 and get off the at the next exit (Avalon) and she tells me to try and make my way back to the Carson exit, but not to approach the guy in case he is drunk.  I make my way back, but of course it's the on ramp, not the off ramp, and I can see that white car that has crashed. But, I also see another white car in the icicle plants, all banged up but empty.

Eventually (and the girls are still sleeping through this whole thing), the fire trucks come up and start to take care of the other people. Then, CHP arrives, and they come and talk to me some time later. The other people get carted off in an ambulance and I make my statement.

I asked CHP if they caught the guy and he said, yeah, he started to run away on foot and they caught him. I asked if he was drunk and the officer said yeah, they think so.

So, that's my story. My car is all scraped on the side, but the girls and Mike and I are unharmed. I think my wrist might be screwed up, but I can't be sure.

I have an appointment on Thursday to have the car looked at and the police report won't be ready for some time because it was in fact a DUI.

Excuse my language, but seriously, Fuck Drunk Drivers. My little girls were in the car and I can't even talk about the things it makes me think about.
