Wknd Pics! This

This picture was taken by Auntie Sunny. I think I might frame it and wallpaper my house with it.

When we got to San Diego my parents said, SURE! Go have a beer. So we did.

Haiku Friday

This was a tough one.
But not terrible at all.
Just not wahooo! Yay!!

BuddyWatch worked out.
And she had an awesome time.
It was just a lot.

Back to two jobs, too.
Even just for a little.
But, it's Friday now.

The Good, The Bad, The Ugly

The Good
  • BuddyWatch2012 is going smoothly so far.
  • Work is busy a lot and goes by fast - that is nice. I am learning a lot!
  • Hoppin' down to San Diego this weekend to see my niece perform in Aladdin. Ha! Rad.
  • As you know, I love Thursday mornings because I get to do stuff around the house for 40 minutes all by myself. Today, I did laundry, dishes, organized my make up drawer and tidied up my bedroom. How sad is that, that 40 minutes to do chores makes me so happy?
The Bad
  • Probably the 2nd half of that last bullet in "The Good."
The Ugly
  • Knock on wood, Buddy has remained well these past several weeks. I think she has a little cold now, but no fever and she seems fine. But boy does that kid produce snotz like its her job. Sorry/gross/it's true. (And yes, I said snotz. I don't know why, but I think its better plural and with a z.)

Numbers!!

  1. I am a day late and a dollar short on numbers, guys! Yesterday was my day off from UCLA, which means what? Anyone? Anyone? It means I worked for USC!
  2. We are in the midst of BuddyWatch2012. Buddy's daycare is closed for the week, so we have put together a community to watch Buddy. On Monday and Thursday, I am using a friend's nanny (runs about $250 for the two days). Yesterday, MIL and FIL watched Buddy. Today, my parents are here. Friday, Ang is coming. Buddy is loving life for sure.
  3. This past weekend was really awesome. It was date night on Friday and babe and I went to a good ol dinner out in Culver City. Saturday we took it easy and did a whole bunch of stuff around the pad. We also went to brunch with the Commish at the 3rd street farmers market. Buddy does a really good job out and about and I'd like to keep it that way. Outdoors, brunch, and crayons? Done and done.
  4. Sunday we took a long walk to the bike store and there we purchased bikes, one for Babe and one for me!! I can't wait to ride my bicycle, guys!

Fotografias de la fin de la semana

These two guys are sure good pals.
Buddy loves to take pictures with her mama.
This one is my favorite.
The Commish came to town and he and Buddy ran around the Farmers Market together.
Guess what else we did this weekend? We got ourselves some bikes!!! I didn't get this for Buddy (YET). But ack. OMG.
If you're wishing this was a video, wish no more. The video will be you tubed and uploaded at some point this week.
We also got a whole bunch of sidewalk chalk in all sorts of colors. For Buddy. Yeah.

It's her birthday, hoy!
These kids, they won't stop growing.
It does seem to fly.

It's also my friends
Mary and Solana's day!
Happy Friday, all!

Misc. Media Wednesday

I skipped numbers this week because I worked all weekend and that's not fun to quantify.

Instead, I thought I would bring you Misc. Media Wednesday.

Books
  • I am currently reading The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho and loaned to me by the LBC crew. It's one of their favorite books. I can see why. It's a sort of fable type of story about a shepherd who is learning to follow his dreams. Who doesn't need a little bit of that in their day to day?
Television
  • Last night was the season (series?) finale of the CW show Ringer starring my television soul mate, Buffy Summers (AKA Sarah Michelle Gellar). This twisty, turny soap opera action adventure show was about twins (Buffy 1 and Buffy 2) who "shared the same face." (Did this bird just shit on my face?) You can clearly see why I leave the reviews of any kind to BFF, by the way. It was good, me and Babe liked it. I doubt it will get a second season, but if it does, I'm sure I'll watch it again.
Cinema
  • Holy moley, guys! Me and Babe saw the Hunger Games (thanks to the extreme kindness and generosity of my sister who watched the BF sleep so we could exit the house on a school night). When I read the books, I was seriously blown away by the concept and the futuristic vision of the world that seemed to me highly plausible. I devoured them and am looking forward to reading them again. The movie did not disappoint.  I only wish it was longer and I never say that about movies. It was SO GOOD. (I link to BFF's review, to reference my above point about how she is really good at movie reviews. When I re-read her review, though, it's not as much about how good the movie is and more about other random stuff. But you'll get the gist. Her other movie reviews are more thorough. Trust me.)

Happy birthday, Grama!

Today is my Grama's birthday! (Known to some in the family as Great Grama and a couple others as "ma"). She sure is a nice person. Funny, strong and completely unafraid to speak her mind, my Grama has been a powerful and strong influence in my life since I was born.
Although we have always lived far apart, I used to see my Grama at least once a year and in recent years, more like two or even three times a year. She's 96 years young today and I wish I was hanging out with her today!

Weekend Pictures

Auntie and Buddy take one.
Auntie and Buddy take two.

The event set up, where the BBQ was.
My game face.
Event set up, where the tables were.
I didn't have a mirror outside so I took a lot of pictures of myself to check my hair.
Delicious BBQ lunch.

***
So, weekend pictures are a little random (except for the Auntie/Buddy ones, of course) because I spent almost the entire weekend working!! Anyways, the event was great, it was beautiful outside and my lunch was deeelicious!

Misc. Items

  • Big event at work this weekend. Did I ever tell you my tail of woe about the whole Eddie Vedder thing? Basically, I had stupidly but also maybe on purpose signed up for the fan club lottery to see the Eddie Vedder solo show on April 13th, Friday. And basically, you pay in advance and if you win, WOOHOO, and your card is charged and you go the show. No cancellations, no transfers, no refunds. Well, I won! WOOHOOO. Except that it was the one weekend my boss asked me to work – even before I got the job he asked me! Anyways, I deliberated for AGES about this, and finally decided, fudge it, I’m going to ask him if I can go. And he said, sure! No problem. By the way, did I tell you it is in Phoenix, Arizona? Well anyways, I got the afternoon off, secured buddy care (thanks ang!), bought plane tickets, reserved a hotel room, and then he cancelled the tour. Because his arm is broken or something like that. So, instead of losing the money on the tickets (which I still have for whenever they decide to do this again), I lost the money on the airfare. $289. I mean, sure, I can pay the change fee to use the tickets some other time but that change fee is $150 per ticket, plus an orbitz fee of $30 per ticket. Moral of that story? I don’t know. But definitely don’t use orbitz to book your ticket.
  • Wow. That was my first misc. item bullet? What else is there to say? I think I’m spent.

Boob Walk

Can you see this?? Jessica couldn't, so I'm wondering if the rest of you can. It's a pink picture that shows that I have raised $1,075.00 so far toward my $1,800 goal. Thanks to all who donated, you know who you are!! I am two behind on Thank You notes, but those are forthcoming. It was much, much easier to do thank you notes when I didn't have a small baby. Ha! Small baby who is super funny. She wanted to be up for the day today at 445. Not so much, me.

Happy Anniversary, Babe!

I am the worst person! How could I leave 16 years off of numbers!!

Babe and I celebrated sixteen glorious years together on Sunday. Here's to another 16 + another 16 + another 16.

Numbers

  1. I tell you what. Things are going real well, guys. Real well indeed. I’m feeling pretty good about stuff on this mighty nice Tuesday, April 10th.
  2. I spent a good part of this morning believing that it was actually Thursday and that I was completely out of time to get ready for our big event this weekend at work, but no. I have at least two extra days again!
  3. This past weekend was super nice. Me and Babe and her majesty, queen of the buddies, decided to go to Oxnard to visit BFF and her familials for a Friday night visit. We popped in the Subaru after dinner and bath and drove one hour up the one. Shoulda been enough time for Buddy to fall asleep, but she sang to us all the way on our romantic drive up the coast. We hung out in BFF’s backyard and had a nice fire and some brewskis and laughed and laughed.
  4. We also played Just Dance 3. Enough said.
  5. Saturday, we rolled back and took care of business because Easter Feaster was the next day! We took a four mile walk around Culver City to get supplies for the next day.
  6. And then on Sunday, my sibling and her three wee ones came over, and our pals the Lenscrafters, with their two wee ones came over and we ate ham and cheesy potatoes and veggies and drank beer.

The end.

Up close with the Buddy.
Yeah.
Buddy is wearing shorts.
For the first time.
And it won't be the last.
Doing some gardening.
O-Man.
Easter dress with Sarape.
Magical perfection.
I was pulling out of my driveway this morning when I noticed a castaway.

I am trying to figure out how to make this smaller so I can have it on the top right hand side of my blog. Does anyone know HTML anymore? I sure don't.

Numbers!

  1. Well! What's been going on lately? Buddy doesn't have a fever anymore! It was up to 103.5, by the way. She has one more day of antibiotics, so I look forward to that being over. Probably not as much as she does though! What a champ.
  2. This past weekend was lovely and chill. We mostly took care of Buddy. I told you about a lot of it in the weekend pictures, but we did see our dear friends in LBC with their two babies. And my sister came up with one of her babies. We drank some wine. We laughed. We talked.
  3. I have started raising money for my boob walk! Hip hip hooray! I will put a link up at some point, but so far I have raised $275

Weekend Pics!

Well, guys. Buddy got a lot better this weekend. Antibiotics are really an amazing invention. Here she is on Saturday, eating a cookie the size of her face.

Feeling almost 100% here! On the way to the LBC to enjoy ridiculously good food at this amazing restaurant in Long Beach.

Buddy likes to take pictures of me and her.

Anytime Buddy doesn't feel good, I buy her a toy. So, I got her this Elmo last week at Rite Aid. He's a total creep. His eyes are all buggy and his mouth is super big. He also talks which is weird. But, I thought this picture of him lying on the grass in the backyard was the bees knees. Buddy thought it was really funny, too.

Buddy loooooves her cousin Ori. She says his name over and over again. This morning she looked over at the guest room and starting singing Ori! Ori! Ori! Ori! Ori! right away.
