The Good, The Bad, The Ugly

Good

• The weather. It's sunny and warm.
  
• Buddy seems to be on the up and up. Hopefully that was her last illness for awhile?
• I have a lot of work to do and am getting a lot done. That feels pretty great.
• Springtime.

Bad

• Not necessarily bad, but man oh man I am so busy. Work is relentless.
  
• As a result, my office is an explosion of paper. I am interviewing for many, many positions right now and that is evidenced by the hundreds of resumes littering the place.
• Scratchy throat. I won't say anymore.

Ugly

• Last week when it was torrential down-pouring here in this fair city, a mouse ran out on the street and tried to climb Buddy's stroller wheel. (That might be a tiny exaggeration) and there was a water bug the size of a pony in my apartment. No exaggeration there.
• Yesterday when I got off the subway I was greeted by a homeless gent's gigantic naked ass.
  

Numbers - Post 2001 A Space Odyssey!

1. Buddy will be ten months in three days. She has eight teeth and appears to be recovering from that last sickness, which was her fourth in four weeks. She slept better last night and is playing happily.
   
2. We took a trip down to Baltimore on Sunday! Babe drove the three hours there and back and we had a really good time. It was Buddy's first Yankee game and that stadium was tremendous. I mean just really super awesome. Plus the Yankees won, which was terrific!
3. It was neither of our first time in Baltimore (well, it was Buddy's) but it was our first time there together. It's a down and out city, with beautiful architecture new and old and a ton of super poor people.
4. We gave buddy her Easter basket and I had my first piece of candy in forty days! Go on lent.
   
5. We have two months left in Brooklyn! Holy shit.
6. Neither one of us has a job. Jeepers!

• Take buddy to the doctor for an ear infection. Timely because it seems that she has a fever today. Good lord.
• Make a beef brisket in the crock pot.
• Laundry, of course.
• Do a little work.
• Take a couple walks.
• Clean up around here some.
• Take care of buddy.

Connected

I think it would be hard for me to be more connected.

• I recently joined Twitter (username: coodence, of course) so I could keep track of that snake who escaped from the Bronx Zoo.
• I of course have this blog here that has been my trusty friend for the past six years.
• I frequent Facebook and though I don't frequent it with the verve of some friends I check it often enough that I know what about fifty people are doing at any given time.
• I have now only two email addresses that I regularly use - my gmail and my work email. I have long since left behind hotmail and yahoo, but I still have them in case. In case of what?
• I joined Linkedin because I will be on the job market soon.
• My phone has gchat on it, so my green light is always on.
  
• I have a bad-ass, television sized smart phone that has everything I could ever need on it, from you tube (of which I am also a member) to yelp (another spot where I write reviews occasionally).
• So, hey if you need to find me, you know where to go.
  

The Good, The Bad, The Ugly

The Good

• Raindrops on roses, whiskers on kittens. Actually, whiskers on kittens are disgusting. Let's start again.
• Coffee in the morning, my giant SIGG full of cold, filtered water, the sandwiches Babe makes me for lunch.
• Buddy in her pajamas.
• Friday Night Lights in its final season. Such a good show!

The Bad

• My allergies? My lack of motivation at the workplace? The job market in California?
• Crappy, cold rainy weather all the freaking time.

The Ugly

• My stinky feet after wearing flats all day. EWWW!
  

Numbers

1. Buddy was totally well this weekend! For the first time in four weekends! Hoorah!
2. She is also almost 10 months old! Wow! Big girl.
3. We took it pretty easy this weekend, watched some Yankee games. On Saturday we had an open house because my landlord is selling our place and during that time I went to see the twinsies. Later that day me and Babe went and had a beer or two at the Pacific Standard. With the buddy, who was napping in her stroller.
4. Sunday we took a couple of walks during the day and then went to our pals house for dinner. It was really nice! They are two really nice people and I like them a lot. Buddy was so cute at dinner, she basically clapped the whole time. HEE.
5. Our time in NYC is drawing to a close. We have eleven weeks left here! I have six and a half weeks of work left. Holy shit!

Buddy Day?

Turns out today is also buddy day! She has a cold that kept her and I up all night last night, so I couldn't stand the idea of her going to daycare and of me having to take her out in the rain and on the subway. Plus, Babe is sick so he stayed home so then I knew I would be able to take a nap.

What on earth is going on with my buddy?! She sure is going to have a superstar immune system.

Anyways so today I took a long nap with her to make up for last night, played a lot on the rug, (she's totally fine, just has a stuffy nose and kind of a gnarly cough), made food for me and babe to eat and then bundled her in the stroller and went to Target. I've also been furiously trying to get work done throughout the day - what a joke.

The funniest book I have ever read

I am so excited that I impulse purchased Tina Fey's Bossypants the other day when I was at the Barnes and Noble spending my Groupon. (Groupon - pay $10 for a $20 gift certificate to Barnes & Noble.) This article has a few funny excerpts but I think you should just go out and buy it. It costs like $20 and you will laugh so hard your shoulders will shake and people will move away from you on the subway because they think you are a crazy person.

For example, Ms. Fey is talking about being on a cruise:

"In the event of an emergency, it is the entertainers who are in charge of the lifeboats. Because the rest of the crew has actual nautical duties, the kids from Fiesta Caliente are trained to man the lifeboats. If you ever have to get on a lifeboat, the person in charge of your safety will likely be a nineteen-year-old dancer from Tampa who just had a fight with his boyfriend about the new Rihanna video. James also told me that each lifeboat has a gun on it and that once a lifeboat is in the water, the performer-lifeboat captain is trained to shoot anyone who is disruptive. This is apparently legal in accordance with maritime law."

Numbers!

1. First weekend that princess wasn't sick in the last three. Though she definitely has a stuffy/snotty nose. Sigh. But she didn't get that until Sunday evening, so I'm not going to count it as being on the weekend.
   
2. Speaking of buddy, she's nine months and a week! or two?
   
3. This weekend, we took buddy to her first baseball game. Unfortunately it was to see the Mets, but it was still fun. We got there around inning three and left around inning eight. Funny. We left home right after her first nap, then left the game right before her next nap. Cute.
   
4. Babe and I celebrated fifteen years by going to a delicious dinner at The Farm on Adderly. We also had a drink beforehand at the Sycamore bar. Both of these are in a different neighborhood from where we live, so we really felt like we were getting away. Plus we had dinner and talked to each other for two hours or so. God bless Nina who watched buddy for us so we could go to dinner for the first time since Christmas. It's April.

• Hello world - I am an Auntie again! Welcome Madeleine Rose to the world! Little girl born on April 5th, ready to party.
  
• I don't want to get ahead of myself but it seems like Spring is here. That's all I am going to say about that.
• Friday is mine and Babe's fifteen year anniversary! Put that in my pipe and smoke it, folks! Nines is going to watch the buddy, provided she doesn't get another crazy illness this weekend. Okaaayyyy.
• Going to see the Poor Stinky Mets play on Sunday. Buddy's first baseball game!
  
• I'm so happy it's baseball season. It's so comforting to have it on at night. And awesome.
  

The Good, The Bad, The Ugly

The Good

• Seems like buddy's ear infection is gone. Her eyes are a little leaky at nights but I think that's cleared up too. Hopefully this is it for awhile.
• She's crawling which is AMAZING. I got so used to her being over there when I put her over there and now she's right here when she used to be over there. What a nut job. She is one strong willed little child too and boy does she tell you when she doesn't like what you're doing (you know, like walking away from her to get yourself more coffee or something like that).
• Perhaps Springtime has arrived? I mean it's in the fifties and raining so that seems more like Spring than Winter?

The Bad

• As long as Princess stays well, I'm going to say not much bad going on.

The Ugly

• That eye infection was NASTY dude. Princess Buddy wanted to show her mom and dad that she is capable of sharing fluids out of every possible orifice of her body. Next? Belly button and fingertips.
  

Numbers!

1. How old is buddy today? 9 months and one week?
2. Today will be our third visit to the pediatrician in five days.
3. Buddy had an infection in both of her eyes and one of her ears. How did she get it? I don't know. She didn't go to daycare, I haven't taken her anywhere in days. Maybe it floated in the window?
4. As a result, this weekend was chill. We took a lot of walks around the nabe (about three a day) and went to the Brooklyn Flea. We played a lot and Princess is officially crawling! We watched Yankee games both days which was awesome.
5. Hopefully next weekend will not be the third weekend in a row that Buddy is sick. How's that for a request?
