  3. It was hot. Sometimes in the 90s.
  4. Buddy got to play on the grass twice. Once at a one year birthday party and the other time at BON's bar b que. What's cuter than buddy in a sundress playing on the grass? Nothing. That's what.

Haiku Friday

I was visited
last night by a mosquito.
Woke up all bitten.

Thought for sure - bed bugs.
Total and utter panic.
Then I heard buzzing.

Laid awake, waiting.
Used the flashlight on my phone.
Found it, squashed it dead.

  • We are going to the Yankee day came. Babe got a half day at work and he's coming too.
  • Is buddy day and I'm making people come to meet me at Habana Outpost at 4:30 pm.

Misc. Items

  • I'm hosting a movie night at my work tonight. Guess which movie? No seriously, guess!
  • Okay, I'll tell you. We're watching the Warriors! 1979 cult classic.
  • This whole almost 11 month, 10 month old life stage for the Buddy is possibly the cutest thing I've ever seen in my life. She always wants to play and she totally knows how to give kisses. Sometimes she just hugs you, too, and lays her head on your shoulder. ACK.
  • I am eager to receive the invitations for Buddy's birthday party which I ordered in the mail. They ought to be here today and they will knock the ball out the park if the park is a measure of cuteness. Strange metaphor.
  • Tomorrow, we're going to a day game at work! Awesome.
  • I smashed my phone into the ground at Yankee stadium last Friday night. No, not on purpose, it fell out of my pocket and landed face down onto the pavement. shattered. Luckily, I have insurance. New phone should be arriving today.

  7. Had two pals over on Saturday night. We drank wine and chatted. It was lovely.

Haiku Friday

Six days or work left.
One of those is the yankee
daytime game. Hooray!

Somehow, I still
have meetings all day, each day.
Does that surprise you?

How will I go on?
Without my time scheduled
into hour blocks?

Pros & Cons

  • More job opportunities for Mama.
  • Easier transition from NYC ---> BAY.
  • Public transportation.
  • If Babe gets a job with his hold firm it will mean mas job security.
  • Pals like, but not limited to: the Lys, Oi, G&D, Petey M., others.
  • Fictional Tahoe House.
  • Not close enough to familials.
  • Crowded and expensive, not unlike NYC in a lot of ways.
  • Tiny drive to see family. Like two hours.
  • Totally unchartered territory - a new place to live.
  • Cheaper living, if not only because we won't need a 3rd bedroom or 2nd bathroom for family to stay.
  • Closer to BFF, Santiago, etc. etc.
  • Backyard.
  • Not the same level of connections/jobs for either one of us.
  • Traffic/no idea what the living is like.
Either ways? Looks like a win win. Also? A working list done in three minutes. Feel free to add.

The Good, The Bad, The Ugly Wedding edition

The Good
  • Let's call it The Great! Today is my parents 42nd (42?) wedding anniversary!! I couldn't be luckier to call these two my parents. I just love em too darn much. It hurts me sometimes. Ouch. Like right then.
The Bad
  • No card sent by me. Sorry Mom and Dad who I love so much. I am a terrible child.
The Ugly

  1. Buddy is ten months and a couple of weeks.
  2. She still has eight teeth. She still wakes up at least four times at night. She is starting to eat food food though now and seems to enjoy cheese and corn tortillas.
  3. This weekend, we had a date night! Babe and I paid a babysitter fifty bucks so we could go to dinner. Fifty bucks well spent I say.
  4. Sunday it rained, so we played inside a lot and when the sun came out took a walk to Fulton Grand to have a beer or two.
  5. Saturday, we took a tour of the Kelso Brewery down the street from us and filled up our growler for $10. We also drank beers for free. That was awesome.

Haiku Friday

Sorry I am late, blogger was down all morning for some reason.
It's raining jobs, man.
Well, I wouldn't go that far.
But, Babe's getting some.

Interviews I mean.
Two over the phone so far.
And one scheduled.

Not counting chickens.
Not getting too excited.
But, it feels awesome.

The Good, The Bad, The Ugly

The Good
  • My egg white, cheddar and sausage on a roll with salt and pepper.
  • 10 month buddy = hilarious and awesome buddy.
  • Got to catch up with dear friend and frequent blog commenter Nancygurl yesterday.
The Bad
  • What could be bad??
The Ugly
  • Catching up with dear friend and frequent blog commenter meant two bottles of wine. We really are moms now, and wake up really early for the day. But I think sometimes we think we're still 23.

Numbers - one day late

  1. My first mother's day was stellar. I had a massage and Babe and Buddy came and met me in the City for a couple of sixpoints and a cheesesteak.
  2. Buddy is getting old. She's ten and a half months.
  3. Had dinner with the mommy's out in Ditmas Park on Saturday. Buddy is the youngest and smallest of the three babies. She loves to just sit and watch other kids, which is funny because when she's just the only baby she is all over the place.
  4. My nieceypoo celebrated her eighth birthday on Sunday. Eight! What a big girl.
  5. We have eight more weeks in NYC. I have 3 more weeks of work.

Things be crazy around here. If Buddy's not sick, I am. If I'm not sick, Babe is.

Right now, Babe and I are both sick. He's really sick.

I have meetings all day every day at work (when to get work done? The eternal question!).

It's raining, it's pouring.

Man oh man is New York ever nice in the springtime!

Obviously the closer I get to leaving the more I am realizing just how much I am going to miss this place. Here are a few things from the last 24 hours that I noticed and thought to myself, I will miss that in Cali:
  • This morning I was waiting for the train with this young woman, probably early 20s, Afro-American with the hottest outfit I have seen in ages - super tight tight jeans, bitchin fancy top, hot little jacket, crazy high heeled shoes - and amazing hair. She just looked like Brooklyn incarnate.
  • I got off the train and went to Joe's coffee, then picked up a perfectly toasted bagel and walked back to work through the West Village, enjoying the beautiful people dressed for the springtime and the lovely trees with their green leaves and blooming flowers.
  • Listening to NY1 this morning, they asked about the new rent hike and this man on the street gave this totally profound answer about all the different ways the world was getting more expensive from meat to milk to gas, but what are you gonna do? There are really no solutions and you just have to pay up. It was sort of a perfect answer, delivered in one of the many accents native to this land.

  1. Dang! After almost ten years they got him, huh? I can't say I'm sorry one bit to see it happen. Also, I was super proud of Obama for taking credit.
  2. Buddy is ten months and a few days old. She's a trooper! No sickness this past weekend, let's keep up the good work!
  3. Hosted Feaster on Sunday, had about fifteen people over for lunch, made a ham and what not. It was our first Feaster with the buddy and our last in Brooklyn! What a good tradition it has been.
  4. Took it pretty easy this past weekend, got some rest. I was a little bit sicky myself so I had to you know take it easy. Watched some yankees, watched some Friday Night Lights. Took several walks. Thumbs way up.
  5. Buddy has eight teeth and is working on nine and ten. She still wakes up three or four times minimum at night. She's 28 and a half inches long. She has been crawling since she was 9 months and a week. She got her first tooth on January fifth at six months and a week.
  6. We have less than two months til we move to Sunny California.
  7. I have less than one month of work left.
