Numbers - DC Edition II

Since we last chatted, I:
  1. Took the BoltBus down and back to DC. About $20 each way. Clean, comfortable, four hour bus ride.
  2. Stayed in Ruby & Joaquin's brand new luxury, two bedroom apartment.
  3. Saw just about all of the 43 president's portraits in the National Portrait Gallery. So amazing!
  4. Saw three pandas eating bamboo at the National Zoo.
  5. Had my first bad Bloody Mary of the summer at Commonwealth Gastro Pub. Didn't drink it.
  6. Walked all over DC's beautiful neighborhoods, saw some gorgeous old houses that look like castles. They must have been built about 100 years ago, maybe 150.

Haiku Friday

Britney and Yankees!
A week spent in arenas
hordes of screaming fans.

I was one of them.
Go Britney!!! Hip! Hip! Jorge!
Glad everyone won.

No breakdown for Brit,
The Yankees managed to win,
All's well that ends well.

Information Technology

Last night, after the yankee game, me and Sashie were talking about the blog. Not too surprisingly, I was thinking of focusing on Britney for the third day in a row. To which Sasha replied, why don't you talk about the role of information technology in long distance shit-talking. What a smart idea. Here goes!
Last night, Babe was heckling Samoi by sending him pics of me and Sasha at the Yankee game. See below.
Samoi got right back to us with his response, showing just how he feels about the Yankees.
So, we all got together to show how we feel about the RED SOX. See below.
Thank god for the iphone!

She's still talking about Britney?

This is all of us ladies just at the end of the show.
This pic cracks me up, dudes.
One more gratuitous Britney picture for BFF and others. Also a good opportunity to illustrate how up close and personal we were with her.
Thanks to Stretch for the photos.

The concert was so much fun, ya'all. Me and a bunch of girls, hit up some drink specials at a nice irish pub (MollyWee, if you're in the nabe), and then went to see the Circus, featuring Britney Spears.

We danced, we laughed, we screamed. It was a really fun show, totally ridiculous production. Pyro technics, many many many costume changes, hot hot hot back up dancers, and a real honest to goodness Circus sideshow. (Lady with no legs jumping on a trampoline? Really? Yes, really.)

Check back for videos later.

Since we last chatted, I:
  1. Went to a baseball game and watched the Mets beat the Phillies 4 - 2.
  2. Scheduled multiple things for 10am on Saturday morning: Babe had to get the car, two mail exchanges.
  3. Went out to exit 35 on Long Island. Spent some time in one for the sickest houses I've ever seen.
  4. Went to a bachelorette party at the Clover Club on Smith Street. Had two cocktails that cost too much and tasted okay.
  5. Went to brunch on Sunday then took it easy for the rest of the day. Where's the number there? Went to Autour du Monde at 860 Fulton.

Haiku Friday

Super busy week!
Lots of fun stuff happening.
Lots of work to do.

My coffee tastes weird.
Being punished for ditching
J&B maybe?

Dog days of summer.
It is so scorching outside.
Need to find a pool.

August Full O Fun

Well, I'm just having and August full of fun, I tell you! What with visits to Wisconsin to see the family and a trip to DC planned at the end of the month, I am just cramming as much into this last gasp of summer as humanly possible!

Going to see the Mets tomorrow, the Yankees next week, see GIRL TALK on Sunday, and BRITNEY SPEARS on Monday. Ya heard. That's right. I said it. I'm seeing Britney Spears on Monday at Madison Square Garden and I Can't. Hardly. Wait.

What are you doing this August?

I wanted to give Babe a present for our anniversary, which is not something we do really. We usually go out to dinner or something, but not really give gifts. But, Babe has been doing a lot of stuff lately, since we moved and all. He painted both our apartment and our old apartment and I just can't thank him enough.

So, I've been collecting change in this big purple thing at my work for I don't know about five years. I decided to cash it in and see how much money there was and get babe a gift certificate for the tattoo parlor he gets his work done at, Invisible NYC. Obviously I would never give my husband money as a gift, but a gift certificate for a tattoo? That seemed legit. Lucky for me, SW1 documented the whole affair.

First, there was a change-tastrophe, when the bucket broke open in my office!
Then we made our way to the Penny Arcade at the TD bank.
Yay! That's me, pouring the change in.
I was somewhat surprised to see Ms. Muffy has a new gig, at the TD Bank Penny Arcade.
Wow, big spender! $78.02 was the total in change. That included 1500 pennies. Save em, kids! That should pay for about 10 minutes of Babe's tattoo.

Happy Anniversay Big Guy!

And may God Bless America.

Numbers - Six Years Edition!

Today is my sixth anniversary of being married to Babe! Huh, babe?!

Since we last spoke, I:
  1. Really took it easy for the first time in what felt like two weeks.
  2. Went out to brunch and learned that really? I can only do one bloody mary, not two.
  3. Went to a show in Williamsburg, on 7th and Bedford at the Charleston.
  4. Sat on a roof drinking beer in the 85 degree weather. 90? Who knows. It was hot.
  5. Went to the new beer "garden" in Fort Greene. Not a garden, not really. Whoopsie, no number that. Had two beers.
  6. Hung out with a couple of good friends all over Brooklyn!
  7. Laid on my couch/bed for four hours and read a book. Thank the maker.

Haiku Whoa Dudes Friday

I don't think I've been
At my desk at all this week.
So many meetings.

Between field trips, and
baby showers, fundraisers,
and regular work.

Good week to be out.
Workmen hanging outside my
window all week long.

Chubby Bunny

We had a shower last night for our coworker and his wifey who are going to have a baby soon. First co-ed shower I've ever throw (or been to) and it's definitely the way to go.

Best part of the shower was when the boys (men) lined up and played Chubby Baby Bunny. Familiar with this game? Each person has a bag of marshmallows, and sticks one in their mouth, then says out loud, Chubby Bunny, or in this case, Chubby Baby Bunny. It keeps getting funnier and funnier as they stuff more marshmallows in their mouths, and eventually they can't really say it anymore.

This game reminds me of high school, because I remember Mary Friedrich playing, using a microphone. She probably got about 20 marshmallows in her mouth. Good ol Blueberry Mary. She's gone now, so, this ones for Mary Friedrich, who I, along with a few other girls out there, still hold it down for.

Back to back to back meetings today so no chance for introspection.

August 5th is here, you have 3 and a half weeks to finish your summer lists. Go!

Happy Birthday, Ranaldo!

Happy Birthday, Brother Ranaldo! Looking forward to celebrating with you soon!!!!

Dude, I want to go somewhere. I love Brooklyn, and I love being a home body and all that jazz, and getting my life in order, and blah blah blah, but I really want to do a little traveling, ya'all.

I keep interviewing all these graduate students who either just got back from Europe, are leaving tomorrow for Tokyo, or are about to embark on a three week vacay to Bangladesh.

Me? Not so much. Don't get me wrong, I'm super stolked to see my familials in just shy of a week here. I can't wait to chill out and play with the niece and nephew and chat it up with my sisters and folkses.

But I'd really be stolked to be planning a trip somewhere far far away where the cuisine is strange, the language is not english, and it's just me and babe against the world. Babe! Let's go!

Monday, August 03, 2009

Since we last chatted, I:
  • Went out to dinner with Babe at Sette in Brooklyn. Sette means seven.
  • Went to the Farmer's Market and bought kirby cucumbers so I could pickle them myself and thus utilize the $10 pickle brine from the jar I purchased at the flea a few weeks ago.
  • Took the 3pm ferry to Staten Island. I haven't been on that ferry in six years or so, since me and Randi took it to look at the statue of liberty.
  • Took in a double header Staten Island Yankees/Brooklyn Cyclones game. Yankees beat the Cyclones twice.
  • Went to a friend's going away party at the Nowhere bar on 14th street and 1st avenue.
  • Took it pretty easy on Sunday, took care of stuff around the house, went to Associated for groceries - got some deals, like a twelve pack of Miller High Life for $10.00.

New Yorkiversary

Today is my 7th anniversary in NYC. I've elected to spend the day in Staten Island - NY's fifth and least populated borough.

Now, I'm clearly spending the night here too as the ferries only leave every hour and we just missed the 9 pm.

How does it feel? Like seven years.
