Huge Sigh of Relief

All that waiting paid off, kids! Dad made it out of the surgery all well and good. We won't know the final, final, final result til one week, but the doctor said "I'd be surprised if it's cancer." I know doctors, and they would never say that kind of thing if they didn't believe it. They are just too cautious to be able to toss around words like that.

Thanks, all, for your well wishes and your support.

Now, back to our regularly scheduled programming! Back to NYC tomorrow.

What's next?

waiting room

" I am a patient boy
I wait, I wait, I wait, I wait
My time is water down a drain
Everybody's moving
Everybody's moving
Everything is moving,
Moving, moving, moving
Please don't leave me to remain
In the waiting room
I don't want the news
(I cannot use it)
I don't want the news(I won't live by it)"

Do you guys know the Fugazi song? I am singing it today as I wait for my pops who has surgery today.

Sitting in the waiting room...

My new friend Andrea's pictures from the wedding are here and this is one of my favorites!

Happy Memorial Day, peeps! Since we last chatted (and I mean really chatted, not this mobile upload thing!) I:
  1. Went to Disneyland for the first time in fourteen years.
  2. Witnessed and celebrated my parent's fortieth wedding anniversary. Go mom and dad!
  3. Saw my best friend get married on Saturday, May 24th.
  4. Hung around in Oxnard, where I lived for 17 years of my life.
  5. Got to see all four of my nieces and nephew.
  6. Was one of seven amazing bridesmaids at BFF's wedding.
  7. Was one of four amazing daughters at my parent's celebration.
  8. Got two pedicures.
  9. Spent four hours in a salon in Oxnard.
  10. Went to the new Yolanda's for lunch in Oxnard. Hadn't been to the old one in about fifteen years.
  11. Had my first bloody mary that I truly enjoyed from the Shores on Oxnard Shores.
  12. Spent three nights in a hotel room in Oxnard that had two bedrooms, two baths, an upstairs and a downstairs.
  13. Purchased ten feather boas.
  14. Purchased two cases of wine and six cases of beer.
  15. Missed my first flight - Delta flight from NYC to San Diego. They only have one flight a day and if you miss it, well, frankly, you're screwed. We were on time, but not time enough to check our bags and so we flew to LAX, rented a car and drove to San Diego in less than two hours at midnite.
  16. Spent so far ten days out of NYC. Could spend another ten days and I think I still would be just mighty fine.
  17. Saw a lot of really good old friends and what I mean by a lot is maybe seven.
  18. Read two books.
  19. Threw one bachelorette party.
  20. Went to one rehearsal dinner.
  21. Knocked out number two and three of four weddings in six weeks. Throw another one at me, I double dog dare you.
  22. Woke up at 4:30 to take my husband to the airport this morning. My husband Babe.
  23. Blogged maybe three times??
  24. Took 112 pictures, so far.

Mobile blogging rocks. On our way up to hometown Oxnard! BFF is a hair away from marital bliss. Well played. San Diego has been gorgeous and fun. Just like you.

Catch up!

Thought we may as well catch up. I'm waiting for Babe in the rental car. I'm going to go to Nava's school today and see her in her kindergarten. I can't hardly wait. She's almost done and then will be a first grader. Wild.

Things have been good, you guys. San Diego is just absolutely the most gorgeous place to be. The weather is tremendous, it's very quiet and relaxing, and the peeps are pretty nice, too. We had a good ole time at my folk's anniversary celebration. The ceremony was beautiful, everyone looked gorgeous, everyone who said they were going to come, came. The food was delicious, the wine was flowing. It was a really nice time.

Now it's off to BFF's boda. Tomorrow to Oxnard. Today is a day for me and Babe to run errands and hang out. Got to get Bridesmaid dress number 3 tailored and pick up dress number 2 from the dry cleana.

I don't miss NYC yet. Nope. Not yet. I don't miss my job, either. I'm super tan and almost relaxed. Not quite, but almost. Hope you are all having a beautiful day!

Mid-May check in

  • Just a heads up, people. We're coming on halfway through the year. Have you accomplished what you set out to? Have you made any progress on your resolutions?Me, I've done an okay job. I've definitely planned a lot of wedding related activities.
  • This month so far has included a wedding and a bachelorette party. Tomorrow, I leave for California for two weeks. That's a long time to be away from NYC. Maybe I just won't come back. Just kidding. I'll be back.
  • Did you watch LOST last night? Man, that shit was good.

You may or may not this, but I dream a lot of weird stuff. I don't usually talk about my dreams on my blog b/c, really, who cares what I dreamt? Babe of course hears all of them and if you're ever in one, I'll tell you. Last night I dreamt one after another of the strangest dreams, including that my computer got a virus, that I was in an old town trying to get a ride somewhere and couldn't find anyone to pick me up, and that something terribly bad was happening to me. I slept like a dead person though and when I woke up, I would have paid ten dollars to stay in bed and not have to go to work today.

Got that? Ten whole dollars.

I decided to treat myself to an orange juice this morning. It's so delicious. All 190 calories of it.

Happy Birthday BFF!

It's BFF's birthday, ya'all. Better swing over to her blog and wish her a happy one. This day means more to her than any other day in the whole year. Trust me on this one.

Since the last time we chatted, I:
  1. Went and saw two people I really dig get married to each other. And danced the night away!
  2. Took one of my friends out for her bachelorette party with three other bridesmaids and a few other girls. Bowled at the Port Authority for the first time. Hadn't bowled but one time in the last ten years.
  3. Sat in traffic for two and a half hours to go 30 miles.
  4. Watched one baseball game.
  5. Read one book.
  6. Sat on the couch for maybe three or four hours on Saturday. Can I go back there, please?
  7. Enjoyed a veggie burger from 67 Burger - so delicious!
  8. Caught up on television: one finale episode of the Amazing Race, one of the two episodes I have on my DVR of Harper's Island, and what else, Babe?

Yuckin Fankees!

Went to the new Yankee stadium last night to watch the Yanks take on the Tampa Bay Rays. You won't be seeing any photos, though, because I forgot my camera.

The game was really good - not a lot of hitting, mainly good pitching, but so much fun to be there. Drank a beer, had a hot dog, watched some baseball. So much fun! It started raining right after Mark Teixiera hit a bases clearing double, tying the game. We left and by the time we got home, watched the 10th inning when the Yankees lost. Per usual.

The new stadium is beautiful, comfortable, spacious. Loved it.

Happy birthday, JOY!

Happy Birthday to my sister JOY today!

Who does not appear in any of the photos she sends me....

Hope you're having a beautiful day!!!

I thought I'd continue to musical theme (you know, cuz yesterday I talked about Glory of Love) by giving some recommendations.

Lucky for me, my friends give me music (thanks Sashie, Yedi, and Max!). And sometimes Babe and I pick up our own music (thanks, Babe!). So, I have some new stuff I've been listening to and I like it. Particularly Santogold who lives in Brooklyn. Her music is just good fun, easy to listen to and kind of awesome.

Then, there's the new Lily Allen which is also lovely. Very fun and fast and the songs are really hilarious. Enjoy!

Glory of Love

Still going through my head. No movie means more to me than Karate Kid. I am often appalled by how racist it is, it's true, but I can't get over how much I love it and how much I loved it growing up.

Now that I think of it, this should have been my wedding song to Babe. I could have done the Kumiko dance and he could have done the drum technique to rescue me from Sato's nephew.

Tonight it's very clear
As we're both lying here
There's so many things I want to say
I will always love you
I would never leave you alone

Sometimes I just forget
Say things I might regret
It breaks my heart to see you crying
I don't wanna lose you
I could never make it alone

I am a man who will fight for your honor
I'll be the hero you're dreaming of
We'll live forever
Knowing together that we
Did it all for the glory of love

You'll keep me standing tall
You'll help me through it all
I'm always strong when you're beside me
I have always needed you
I could never make it alone

I am a man who will fight for your honor
I'll be the hero you've been dreaming of
We'll live forever
Knowing together that we
Did it all for the glory of love

Just like a knight in shining armor
From a long time ago
Just in time I will save the day
Take you to my castle far away

I am a man who will fight for your honor
I'll be the hero you're dreaming of
We're gonna live forever
Knowing together that we
Did it all for the glory of love

We'll live forever
Knowing together that we
Did it all for the glory of love

We did it all for love
We did it all for love
We did it all for love
We did it all for love

Happy Birthday, Cindy!!

Happy Birthday, Cin! I don't have a recent picture of you. That's my bad.

But I do love you.

Muumuu party

Babe and Cod for the Muumuu party, May 2009!
If I went to prom in 1983, this would have been my dress.

What a weekend! Since I last saw you, I:
  1. Played darts and drank $3 beers at the MacDougal Ale House.
  2. Went to dinner at this vegetarian restaurant called Counter in the East Village. Had a $56 dollar bottle of Rioja. Wow.
  3. Went to a muumuu party where no one wore pants, only muumuus. Whilst there, three people in Kimonos performed the fan dance from Karate Kid Part II. Performed it to Glory of Love. I laughed so hard I cried. I'm still laughing just thinking about it. Can I tell you, Ang and I went to see KKPII at least six times in the theater. How that movie spoke to us...
  4. Went to dinner at the R.U.B. on 23rd street - delicious bar b que. The people next to us had two or three (ten?) children with them and those children were running amock, through the restaurant screaming. Awesome.
  5. Played many many songs on Guitar Hero. How many? I don't know - ten?
