Monday Monday

Happy birthday on Saturday to my sister Sunny! You go girl!

This weekend was very, very, very chill. Slept an awful lot and sat around thinking. It was totally and 100% worth it. Been running around a lot. Nice not to do a thing.

Came home and watched two episodes of Survivor on DVR. This is one of the best seasons in ages, you guys! Shoooot!! I love it!

Can you believe Amazing Race starts next week again?

And my birthday week begins. Woohooo!!

Tell me you love me

Has anyone been watching? I missed the last few but I think the show is absolutely amazing in its ability to be totally cringe-worthy.

Fires still raging in San Diego
, but my Ma has been allowed back in her home.

Work goes really well, totally busy and I like it!

Planning for my birthday party. It's going to be so fun.

Thirty, bitches! Just around the corner.

Here's a couple more pics from the past weekend.

Home!

Ma gets to go back home!

Thanks, peeps for your well wishes.

So many photos!

Virgin America - pretty nice way to fly. So not as much leg room as Jet Blue, but they have a pretty neat system for purchasing food and drinks, which you can do from your seat. Also, our flight was delayed on Sunday (surprise, surprise) and they gave us all free food & drinks. And you can IM peeps in different areas of the play, which is pretty freakin funny I think.
Me and Chachi preparing for a weekend in San Francisco!
Get a load of this fancy courtyard that was in the middle of our Good Nite Inn near the San Francisco Airport. It must have been nice when things had character and they put special touches into hotels, as opposed to now when everything looks the same.
Me and my gals.

SoCal! (Updated)

Crazy map of the fires in Southern California! I think it might update automatically? I don't know.

The folks have been evacuated!

Where I was this weekend

Thanks Sashie!

I'm Back!

Thanks to Sashie and to that fella who commented a few weeks back using quotes from The Goonies.

"Don't you realize? The next time you see sky, it'll be over another town. The next time you take a test, it'll be in some other school. Our parents, they want the best of stuff for us. But right now, they got to do what's right for them. Because it's their time. Their time! Up there! Down here, it's our time. It's our time down here. That's all over the second we ride up Troy's bucket. "

More later.

(For those of you who know - I feel like I just got back from Burning Man. A vacation of perfect bliss and now I'm here. Here at my desk.)

Bad Religion

Hola!

Saw Bad Religion last night at the Nokia Theater, which was dope! I dig that theater - it's small and has a great floor that slopes down. But the real reason I dig the theater is because of the seats in the back for the adults. HA! It's been years since I've been in the mosh pit, but as each year goes past, I get farther and farther away from that pit.

Also celebrated Nina's birthday which is today! Happy Birthday NINA!

That's all for now peeps.

Yesterday

This weekend was jam packed! We had peeps over on Friday night - went out to dinner at Bonita on DeKalb, very delicious.

Saturday I laid on the couch and watched movies on TV all day (Major League & Beverly Hills Cop). Saturday night went out for Danielle's birthday to Mexican Radio in Nolita which is fine and dandy.

Sunday, we went and ate Dim Sum at the Golden Dragon in Chinatown - that was really fun. Walked home, over the Manhattan Bridge which I liked, it was very mellow and an easy walk.

Made dinner for some peeps (used the crock pot for the first time - made bar b que chicken!) also had mashed yams, butternut squash, and kale.

But before dinner we were treated to an incredible fireworks show that was put on for the Indian festival Dewali. (:P) Our apartment has a perfect view of fireworks put on at the South Street Seaport. Fantastic!

Halloween is coming

What's the scariest movie you've ever seen?
The Exorsist
What was your favorite Halloween costume as a child?
I had a good wizard hat.
Given enough money what would be your fantasy Halloween costume?
A really scary ghoulie type.
When was the last time you went trick-or-treating?
Fifth grade?
What is your favorite Halloween candy?
Smarties, but I don't discriminate. I love all Halloween candy.
Tell us about a scary nightmare you once had?
So many scary nightmares! I had one when I was five years old that the big fat guy who all the neighborhood kids called Cheeseburger was strangling me to death inside the Johnson Farms supermarket.
What is your supernatural fear ?
I'm pretty afraid of Bloody Mary.
What is your 'creepy-crawly' fear?
Cockroaches.
Tell us about a time when you saw a ghost, or heard something go bump in the night ?
Well, my current apartment seems to have some type of ghostly situation. We've had a book go missing and Babe woke up with a scratch on his face. And the apartment before that was sometimes inhabited by Jane, who died in our apartment. We could smell her cigarettes.
Would you stay overnight in a real haunted house?
Heck yeah, if Babe were there. I wouldn't be able to sleep though.
Are you a traditionalist or a creative carver of your Jack-O'Lantern?
Traditionalist. I don't usually carve pumpkins though. I love them whole.
How much do you decorate your house at Halloween?
I usually get a pumpkin from Babe. Babe? Where's my pumpkin?
What do you want on your tombstone?
Pepperoni and Olives.

Goonies

I watched The Goonies last night on HBO. I love that movie, and it has been ages since I watched it.

As you all probably know, that is one all star cast in their supreme youth! The usuals are represented, Corey Feldman, Sean Astin, our old class president at Berkeley Jeff Cohen, Martha Plimpton, etc. But I had no idea really until the end that one of the bad guys is Joe Pantoliano, or the despicable Ralphie from Sopranos! Crazy old movies.

Goonies never say die!!
