Haiku Humidity and Tonsils Friday
Yesterday was lame.
Was not productive at all.
Today will differ.
Humid and stormy
this weekend. Should be real fun.
Maybe find a pool?
To BFF: Please
recover quickly from your
tonsillectomy.

Me Meme
Hi, my name is:
Coodence
When I'm nervous:
I sing.
The last song I listened to was:
Where eagles have been, Wolfmother
If I were to get married right now my maid of honor would be:
My sisters.
By this time next year I'll be:
30
I have a hard time understanding:
Why people ever could have voted for the current administration.
If I won an award, the first person I would tell would be:
Babe. Because he is the first person I tell everything to.
Most recent thing I've bought myself:
A magazine subscription to New York Magazine.
Most recent thing someone else bought me:
Corn tortillas. Thanks, Solanasaurus!
My favorite hair style is:
Whatever my hair stylist gives me.
Last night I watched:
Nothing but a few minutes of Letterman. Catherine Zeta-Jones was on and she is magnificent.
If I was an animal I'd be:
A fish.
A better name for me would be:
Codfish Master of the Universe? Too much?
Tomorrow I am:
Going to pilates after work.
Tonight I am:
Going to happy hour with my cronies.
I'm missing:
My family.
My favorite color is:
Green.
My heart is:
Full of love.

Dinner
Last night for dinner I made chili rubbed pork chops, with salsa, homemade refried beans, and tortillas. We paired it with a lovely bottle of white wine from Thirst Wine Merchants on Dekalb. I don't remember the type - it was white and super complex. Ha!
In other news, I've been pilating a lot and it is my favorite thing to do. This weekend ought to be dope - going to check out a Cyclones game and run around the nabe a little bit. Come over!
What a boring post. Sorry guys!

NYC Makes Me Mad
Sometimes, NYC makes me mad. I love you, NY, but you can really wear a girl down. For example, the family yesterday who made me miss my train because they decided it was important for them to all stand in front of the facking turnstile while the train came to the station and then departed before my very eyes - they wore me down.
The subway system in general on Monday when every train I got on decided it wasn't going to make its routed destination, but instead changed to an E train, that shit wears me down.
It is possible that I need a vacation, but I really just think that how it is to live in this City. Sometimes it can just wear you down. Good thing it's not scorching hot and full of humidity. That would really, really wear me down.

Media
When she's right, she's right. BFF loved this movie - Thank you for smoking - ages ago and for good reason. It's really hilarious and smart. Even Katie Fever Blister Holmes did not manage to mess it up for me.
And then of course there was freakin awesome and delicious Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows which I read on Saturday. It's so good. And if I didnt have a meeting today at work I would have considered - considered - staying home to read it again. It's one of those days that I'd much rather have not left the house. I mean look at it.

the steam
Living in Berkeley, there were a lot of stories about The Steam. Of course there was allusions to smoking dragons (maybe that's just what I thought?) but we always thought The Steam was basically not harmful.We were wrong people.

Hahahahahahahaha
I don't eat Mcdonald's. That is not a judgment. If you eat it, good for you. I just don't. But man oh man this cracks me up every time it's on TV. Ha!
Old and New
Checked out the Nancy Whiskey last night (Dude, I kid you not. Next time you have to come!) for some shuffleboard. In the relatively new neighborhood of TriBeCa this bar is from a time before it was hip to be there. The place was nearly all locals, plus some downtown business types. And I did hear the bartender say that Julia Stiles was in there the night before playing shuffleboard. So that was our trip to a new spot - and it was great fun. We managed to sign ourselves up for a shuffleboard tourney - awesome.
Then we hit up our old spots - Corner Bistro for a burger and a McSorley's and you can see where this is going. We also hit up the Cubby Hole for a round or two to finish the night. Saw some of our old bartenders - wild. Took our first cab ride back to the new spot - and it was only $15.00. Thank the maker! Home in the 10 o'clock hour - not too shabby for a school night.

~~~All About Your Lover~~~
What is their name? Babe
What pet name do you like to call them? Chachiliciousness
How long have you been together? 11 years
How did you meet? In front of the dorm at UC Berkeley.
What do you like the most about them? Everything, but I really, really, really like his hair. He's super nice, too, and very, very cute.
What do you like the least about them? Nothin.
What is the best thing they have ever done for you? He asked me to marry him!
Have they met your parents yet? God this is really bad grammar. It makes it sound like I'm in love with multiple people. He has met my parents, yes.
What would you kids look like if you had kids? Red headed I hope!
What is the worst argument you have had? Not big into arguing me and Babe.
Do you still kiss a lot? Yes!
Who asked who out? He asked me to come to his frat party at chi phi. Hahahaha.
Do you think you will get married? We totally frickin got married.
Can you see yourself growing old with them? Yup. And wrinkly.
What is the one thing you would like to change about them? Nothing, except I wish he had more vacay time.
What do you think they would like to change about you? Sometimes I'm kinda messy. I bet Babe would like it if I was a little neater. And if I dressed trampier.
What is the first gift they ever bought you? He bought me a buddha for our one month anniversary.
Monday
It was kind of a big weekend, you guys. Hit up a lot of different areas and places in BK - some on purpose and some by chance.
Babe and I hit the Brooklyn Brewery in Williamsburg which was awesome. Cheap & delicious beer - 9 different types of Brooklyn. Awesome! It was full to the gils, too, of all different types of peeps. I like that.
We then hit up Fornino in Billysburg for Pizza - it really was totally delicious.
On Saturday we did a lot of chores and housework, then went to three bars in Park Slope - The Gate, Royale, and Bar Reis. I must say all three were pretty much the spot - but if you're into ranking things and I think you might be the rank would have to be:
1. Royale
2. Bar Reis
3. The Gate.
All three are worthy competitors and frankly? Blow Manhattan's bar scene out of the water.
In fact if my old drinking buddies would come up from Philly, I bet they'd like all three of them.
Haiku it's another beautiful day Friday
Constantly learning
about people and places
today and all days.
Trying to do well
and also be fantastic.
And of course, skinny.
Reflective haiku.
Seems a little bit boring.
Next week will be fun.
Firsts
- Babe and I painted for the first time on Sunday! It was quite a task, but so totally rewarding. When you see our new spot you'll agree. We had to rid our lives of that horrible green color - and you guys know I love green!
- We did our first Brooklyn bar crawl in the new nabe this weekend. We went to Rope on Myrtle, which is a great spot not only because it has a bar b que to toss on your own meats for the grilling (common place in BK) but also because it is buy one get one free until 8pm. That means for 10 measly dollars you can have four count em four Brooklyn Lagers. (Plus $4 for tip.) Then we hit up Red Bamboo Brooklyn for a drink and a dessert. Service sorta blew but the drink and music and people watching were pretty dope. We ended the night at Madiba which was really the highlight of the night. It's a South African spot with great music, good drinks, fun service and a totally off the hook crowd. Right on!
- I spent my first weekend in New York City without setting foot in Manhattan. It won't be the last!
Haiku Friday
Time Warner Cable,
Can't you come any sooner?
I'm missing my shows.
If it weren't for
on demand I'd be so bummed
having missed Big Love.
Settling in and
finishing our unpacking
this weekend. Y tu?
Seriously
I have died and gone to heaven.
So Babe and I are unpacking on Sunday, enjoying the breeze from our huge windows and the calming sound of the street way-y below, when all of a sudden we here "check 1, check 2" on the microphone.
Because why? There is an Afro-Punk block party right below my apartment with a sick live band called No Surrender. I took a video which I'll post as soon as I get my digs wired.
I love my new hood.
Nothing is better
Than living in Brooklyn.
My pad is so spacious.
My windows are so enormous.
My view is breathtaking.
My neighborhood is charming and vibrant.
