Burger Showdown

Well, some of my pals and I have decided to embark on a mission. We are trying to find the best burger in New York City. As a quick web search will show, we are neither the first, nor really the most qualified to make this judgement. But that doesn't stop it from being super fun or just an all around good idea.

Last night we made our first stop. We tried Fanelli Cafe in Soho. Great atmosphere, kinda old-timey pub with fresh looking food, and a nice vibe. This place has been around for more than 150 years and it is no wonder why.

The burgers were fantastic.

Pros & Cons:
The bun was amazing - an big square onion roll. One person (BABE) did not like the bun, though, saying it was "too crunchy."

The cheese on both sides - what a great touch! And it was quality, sharp cheddar.

The burger itself was juicy, well cooked, and crispy on the outside. I'm getting hungry just writing about it!

Delicious pickles.

The fries weren't great. (They really weren't good at all.)
Skimpy on tomatoes. (Though D got three tomatoes on hers!)
The offering of white onions, instead of red.

Overall, the judges said:
(on a scale of 1-10 and giving a letter grade)
SJG: 7.5, A-
JS: 7, B+
DS: 7.5, B+ *** D had a salmon burger.
BABE: 7, B (It was good, but it wasn't any better than Corner Bistro, or Dalton's.)
Cod: 7.5, A- (I thought it was delicious.)

Overall score, then?
7.3. Definitely above average.

Yum. Makes me wish I'd had a cheeseburger for breakie rather than Special K.

perhaps this will be taken as an insult to anyone not from cali, but can you also rank your burgers relative to inn-n-out double double animal style?
