hudson river sunset

Three days!

Three days was the morning.
My focus three days old.
My head, it landed to the sounds of cricket bows...
I am proud man anyway...
Covered now by three days...
Three ways was the morning.
Three lovers, in three ways.
We knew when she landed, three days she'd stay.
- Three Days, Jane's Addiction

How was your three day weekend? Mine was delicious, but also totally strange. I'll bring you details at a later time but thought I should start with snippets (pique the interest!)
I saw XMEN III and I totally dug it! The action was awesome, the lines super cheesy, and the special effects were fan-tas-tic. If you like XMEN or just like action movies about superheros, you should go! Or, if you are highly critical of movies and fun in general, maybe you shouldn't go.
Babe and I explored some strange segments of New York City - such as City Island and Pelham Bay Park in the Bronx. Pics to follow.
I drank margaritas outside on Saturday. It's hot here now, and I mean super hot. Here we go 80s! Here we go!
Went to a really beautiful and delicious bar b que on Sunday night where I ate too much because there were not one but two kinds of pie there and also ridiculous amounts of home made guacamole.
Happy Tuesday, my darlings.

So much fun on Friday to see the Yankees play the Kansas City Royals, one of the old skool teams! We made it all the way to the 9th inning before it started raining, and there was, as the picture shows, a rain delay! But we had great seats and Jeter hit his 2,000th!! WOW! Flashbulbs were popping all over the stadium and people were fuh reaking out! We totally got poured on but made it there and home in no time. What a treat! $10 for the tickets, thanks worky-poo!

  • I'm reading a great book called Dance, Dance, Dance by Haruki Murakami that is really blowing my mind. It's about a hotel that I think we'll find out soon is a bit more than your average hotel. I think it's good that I'm reading this because I am beginning to become a little apathetic and this book I think has some extra meaning tied to it.

  • I haven't spake with BFF in ages so, while I'm getting much more work done during the day, I don't think I laugh as much.

  • I think I'd like to get out of town for a few days, it's been getting a little busy round here and I think it's partly my fault. I'm sorta bunged up.

  • I can't wait to see XMENIII and I know that's cheesy but I want to.

  • I am totally addicted to Big Love on HBO and think that Chloe Sevigny has got to be one of the best actresses to show her face on television. What a conniving Bitch! God, I love her.

  • Going to a Yankees game on Friday! Pretty stolked about that, too.

Now. I'm done for the day. Go, peace be with you.

What's this?
It's the new Pearl Jam video that's kinda gross. You know you want to watch it because Pearl Jam is the best. band. ever.

They're so dope they made the video free on the Internet to post on your website. So here. I posted it.

When Eddie Vedder says jump, I say "how high?"

ninth avenue

Went to the Ninth Avenue International food festival today (and yesterday!) and it was super fun! Look at all those people, people! It went from 37th to 57th and was chock full of delicious edibles. Babe and I ate too much, but it doesn't count because we shared everything!! I had a piece of Mangaro's six foot hero, some delicious sangria, a perfect $3 cheeseburger, a indonesian egg roll, and a peirogi. I'm so full I could die.
Yesterday, we came out to the festival for a minute and ate this guy's street meat. I've never tried any better street meat. So good!

I did not eat this nor any other pig.

After the day was done, Babe and I finally ventured up to our roof and now that we've been there once, we'll return again and again. Have a look at this view!!!

I get this every year but it cracks me up so much I wanted to post it for all of you.
The Open Toed Shoe Pledge
This summer, pledge to follow the rules when wearing sandals and other open-toe shoes:
Repeat after me!
I promise to always wear sandals that fit. My toes will not hang over and touch the ground, nor will my heels spill over the backs. And the sides and tops of my feet will not pudge out between the straps.

I will go polish-free or vow to keep the polish fresh, intact and chip-free.
I will not cheat and just touch up my big toe.

I will sand down any mounds of skin before they turn hard and yellow.

I will shave the hairs off my big toe.

I won't wear pantyhose even if my misinformed girlfriend, coworker, mother, sister tells me the toe seam really will stay under my toes if I tuck it there.

If a strap breaks, I won't duct-tape, pin, glue or tuck it back into place hoping it will stay put. I will get my shoe fixed or toss it.

I will not live in corn denial; rather I will lean on my good friend Dr. Scholl's if my feet need him.

I will resist the urge to buy jelly shoes at Payless for the low, low price of $4.99 even if my feet are small enough to fit into the kids' sizes. This is out of concern for my safety, and the safety of others. No one can walk properly when standing in a pool of sweat and I would hate to take someone down with me as I fall and break my ankle.

I will take my toe ring off toward the end of the day if my toes swell and begin to look like Vienna sausages.

I will be brutally honest with my girlfriend/sister/coworker when she asks me if her feet are too ugly to wear sandals. Someone has to tell her that her toes are as long as my fingers and no sandal makes creepy feet look good.

I will promise if I wear flip flops that I will ensure that they actually flip and flop, making the correct noise while walking and I will swear NOT to slide or drag my feet while wearing them.

I will promise to throw away any white/off-white sandals that show signs of wear... nothing is tackier than dirty white sandals.

The Amazing Race just finished!!

Who would it be? The always dressed in athletic clothes and underdog team Ray and Yolanda? The misogynist to the finish frat boys? Or the best team around, the hippies?!

Well you know who it was and if you're on the west coast then you don't know and I'm ruining a big surprise for you!!

This show is so great and this season was the best in several years.

It's totally season finale time, man! All of the good shows will be over soon and we'll actually have to either socialize, exercise, or rent DVDs.

Hump Day

Peeps! Still totally sickie face, but at least I'm at work and medicated so you know I'm feeling better!! Got to catch up, but want to give a shout out to my Ma and Pa who's 37th anniversary is today. Way to go!

Eating Chicken Soup from the Gray Dog coffee shop on Carmine street. So delicious!! I dont know what they put in chicken soup that really makes sickie faces feel better but it surely does.

Otherwise, I'll try to think of something funny and or interesting to say but if not, I'll tell you how sick I am again tomorrow.

Oh the horror!

You guys!! I'm kinda sicky-face!! Bummer dudes. I'm at home today, drinking gatorade and watching TV. I've always hated staying home sick, whether from school or from work. I feel like I'm missing something.

But today, I'm just going to rest.

Guess what else? I got an A in one of my classes! Haha, I swear to god they must pass these things out like little pretzels at a bar or sweet n low packets at a diner. My paper was fine and good, you know, but an A? Nice. I used to get $5.00 for every A we got at home. Dad?

My dad is quitting smoking, at least he's trying. My sister (s?) and I are giving up chocolate in support of my Dad. Go Dad!!!!

This is a very Dad-Centered post. Good. I love my dad.

Sorry bout the ramblings children. I'm not feeling 100%.

We had a super fun party on Saturday night at the people lounge in the lower east side! If you were there and you are reading this, thanks for coming!! You guys rock!!

And now its time for a new week. Getting ready to Get'r done!

Speaking of years, it has been one year today since I quit smoking (happy birthday, michele)!

This morning on the way to work, I was running super late and looking in my bag for my ID at the same time and ran into a pole. HAHAHAHA. Sucks though cuz it totally hurt.

Have a nice day, friendlys. Talk to you soon.

So. Cute. I. Just. Died.

My nephew and my dad

For those of you who know Babe, you know that the kid can sleep and sleep and sleep and sleep. He is the only person I've met who can sleep standing up. So, I call him Mononucleosis Mike. And now he has made his own garbage pail kid to prove it.

Funny Pictures

There is a car museum on the road from Keshena Wisconsin to Green Bay Wisconsin . This is a picture or two of that museum.

HA! Go ahead. Laugh! It's funny.
(I have papers to write. Get it? That's why I'm posting these ridiculous pictures on my website. It is an advanced stage of procrastination.)

Misc. Items

Off to work late today because I was overwhelmed by paper writing. I'm a good half way towards completion though for all of you who care.

Steven Colbert is making a huge impact - his remarks at the White House Press dinner apparently have the whole world taking note. He says some funny things, and if you haven't seen it, you can watch it here.

My whole point in recapping what is clearly a little bit of old news is that Monday was MayDay and this is what Colbert had to say about it:

"It’s mayday, and I’m winding ribbons of truth around America’s pole." HAHA. Thank's Mr. Colbert for being hilarious.

And also I wanted to tell you that (obviously) the new Pearl Jam CD is soo good. SO GOOD. So good. Have a great day.

Tuesday, May 02, 2006

How exciting! I'm listening to my new CD right now at work. I'm so lucky to have the new Pearl Jam CD. Lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky.

Sometimes I take posts from another group weblog I am on and put them here. Get a load of this my darlings!

Do it, do it.

Eat: Schiller's Liquor down on Rivington is a great place to eat dinner on a Saturday night. You might need to wait awhile, but the bartenders make a show out of making beautiful and not very expensive delicious drinks so even if you have to wait an hour (like we did) it's still totally worth it. The sticky toffee pudding for dessert is so good. And, they have a funny wine list which consists of "Cheap," "Decent" and "Good,"

Drink: Stanton Social Club makes you feel like a million bucks. The sign on the door says Private Party but when you open the door anyways, you realize you're invited to the private party! At times at this bar, I was reminded of the lyrics to the Pennywise song, you know the one, Perfect People (Screw the perfect people/
Fuck they all look the same
), but the bar was cute enough and the vibe was chill enough that I can't hate on this place. Check it out.

Shabeen is a neat place in NoLita that looks like they stopped building it right in the middle. They just put down the hammer and said, forget it, I've got to have me one of these little Lychee martinis and this is just how the bar is going to look. It's a very sweet little place that is apparently modeled after South African speakeasys, but I just learned that by reading about it, not actually from the bar.

The Delancey was a bit of a bust because there was a private party (a real private party!) on the rooftop part of the bar, which is the bar you see when driving into Manhattan over the Billysburg Bridge. But the place is big and there three levels of fun to be had, with live music downstairs, drinking hipsters on the main floor, and apparently super elite fun to be had on the roof.

With that, I urge you all to be merry.
