Christmas Windows

This is really cool, you guys.

If you live here and haven't seen the various Christmas window displays, as I can't imagine you have, or if you don't live here and wish you could see the various Christmas window displays, check out this link:

Christmas Windows in NYC

Step 1.

I have a new niece!! And her name is Coodence, too!!! Well, not really, but sort of. I'll post a picture just as soon as I get it!!!

Last night I dreamt I was being held hostage in a school. I might need a dream reader to analyze that one, what do you think it means?

Everyone I know watched this yesterday.:

1. Cut a hole in a box.
2. Put your junk in that box.
3. Make her open the box.

You can't watch this hilarious video on YouTube anymore, but you can watch it on NBC.
If you are the only person in America who hasn't seen this yet - warning! It's pretty crude!!

I think the coffee guy is mad at me. I mean, I'm sure he's not mad at me, in particular, because what could I possibly have done to him, but he definitely doesn't greet me with HELLO DESI! anymore. Hmmm...

Good thing I'm going away soon. Once the coffee guy is mad at you, you've been around for a little too long.

Life has done and gone haywire.

Hope yours is fantastic.

*update. The coffee guy IS mad at me. Vacation, please!

Tis the season!

Yesterday, Babe made Toffee Bars for my co-workers. Cuz he loves me. I would have made them, but being that I had a cold, I think thats too weird. Here, I stayed home from work to make you these infected bars.

Would you like to make some? If so, here! Try this:

Toffee bars

1 cup Butter (Shhhhh, don't tell!)
1 cup Brown sugar
1 Egg
1 tablespoon Vanilla
2 cup Flour
½ teaspoon Salt
5 Hershey's bars
Chopped up Walnuts
Cream butter; add sugar; cream until light and fluffy. Add egg and vanilla, flour and salt. Mix well. Spread in 10 x 15-inch pan (greased and floured). Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes. Remove from oven and place broken up Hershey's bars on top. When bars are melted, spread. Sprinkle with nuts. Cut into bars.

I'm a little sickie. Sucks. Stayed home today so I don't infect my coworkers or get any worse. Nothing brings out the worst in me more than stupid people and stupid situations. I was so dutiful this year with purchasing gifts very early on so that I wouldn't have to pay exorbitant shipping charges and just for general merriment - I was excited to get certain gifts and looking forward to sending them on their way. Well, wouldn't you know it, that hasn't panned out. My stupid order from the stupid KodakGallery was returned to sender and I've spent a stupid hour on the stupid phone with stupid Kodak only to find out that they have to send me a new set of stupid presents and that I'll receive them in 10 days. Furious? Yes I am. Sickntired? Yes, yes I am. In other news, I'm almost done with Christmas cards and those are going well and are really fun.

Amazing Race - this time the model, former drug addicts won. Nice work, boys. Next time, maybe some women will step up to the task?

Fortune Cookie Philosophy

  • You are one of the people who "goes places in life"
    • Question: With the "quotes" is my fortune cookie mocking me? Is it like, You are one of the people who goes places in life, wink wink?

Please forward this to your friends to spread.
It only takes a second to raise a dollar... for a most worthy cause.

Misc. Items

  • Go here for a a quick second. It's a movie of the sun.
  • Work + school = tired cod.
  • Christmas trees are Christmas trees no matter what you call them.
  • Did I mention I'm kind of tired?
  • There are only 18 days until Christmas. That means all your plans to do stuff early this year and null and void.
  • Its so quiet in my office right now. That, my friends, is a gift from the Baby JC. Shhhhhhh.
  • I've got to meet with my professor today to convince him that what I want to turn in is in fact what he wants me to turn in and not at all a cop-out.
  • I've never shopped at Barney's.
  • In case you don't click the Baby JC link, here, its a simple and easy recipe to make:
    • Baby Jesus Haystacks

Make haystacks to represent baby Jesus lying in the hay in the manger.

This is really easy. No oven involved, just the microwave.
      1 package choc chips,
      ½ cup peanut butter,
      4 cups chow mein noodles,
      mini marshmallows.

Melt choc chips and peanut butter together for 1 min in microwave, stir and microwave for additional 1 ½ min until melted. Add chow mein noodles and stir with 2 spoons/forks as tossing a salad.

      Drop onto waxed paper.

Add a marshmallow to represent baby Jesus.
    • (Seriously, what?)

The Post about...Not Paris!

So, I think I milked the Paris trip for about as many blog postings as a I could. Babe's nickname used to be Milk, because one time I mispelled his real name (which isn't Babe, by the way). The other day, Scooter, Babe and I drank a beer called Mother's Milk. Oh Scooter. I did take this picture in paris for Scooter, they were all over the place. Scooters, that is.

Would you look at that, I snuck in another Paris picture.

Work is going well but is what you might call "super hard." School is putting me near, but not yet at, the end of my rope. Christmas parties this weekend - and I'm so excited!! I'm nearly fasting in anticipation of the black dress.

Go Bears - we won on Saturday, of course! Then I watched Predator. What a nail-biter, man. Dug it.

The Post about Paris, Part I

Did you see the Da Vinci Code? I didn't see it , but I read it. The Louvre really is totally off the hook. It is so big. "They" say it would take nine months to glance at every painting in the museum. Beat that, Met.
Notre Dame is the biggest and prettiest church I've ever been in. It's so huge that from the back you can't even really see the altar. The picture shows the Flying Buttresses pretty well. Oh Brother Edward.
The Louvre is housed in this old palace. Who used to live there? I don't remember. Whoever they were had more money than Bill Gates. This is just one example of one of the ceilings - they were all this amazing.

Yup, that's Venus. She's from 200 BC.
"Old Ticker" - all the clocks in Paris even the old ones like this totally work. None of the clocks in NYC work.
Random mansions and palatial estates abound.
Stained glass in the Notre Dame. Did you know that Notre Dame is considered the center of Paris and all points in Paris are measured as their distance to that point?
The river Seine.
Medusa's ugly mug from a door to someone's apartment building.

I'm back, peeps! We had such a fantastic time - the trip was just perfect. It really is a beautiful and romantic place. I have totally perfected my 10 french phrases, from Bonjour! to Au Revoir! to my room number.

Totally have to get back to work and have school today too. But I can't wait to show you pictures and tell you all about it. Dude, if you can go to Paris, you should go. But! I will say this! Everyone who tells you that everyone in Paris speaks English is totally lying.

Au Revoir!

I'm going to Paris today. I'll see you guys when I get back. Go read BFFs blog while I'm gone. She's super funny when she's not berating herself endlessly for no reason.

Fast Food Nation

Fast Food Nation is now a movie. For anyone who read this, you know the movie is going to be nasty!! Ew!

So BFF & I were chatting as to why this movie is not a documentary. I now know the answer! I saw Eric Schlosser on NY1 this morning and Neil Rosen asked him just that. Schlosser said he spent a year talking to directors and producers of big documentary movies but that all the big studios have corporate relationships with fast food chains. He said he'd rather have a fictionalized account than a watered down documentary.

Good point. Know whats neither watered down nor fictionalized? The book.

Says Much

I haven't had a lot of things to say lately, mainly because work is kickin my booty some and school is coming on strong but things are going really well. I thought I'd toss you a couple of items - maybe a recommendation, something you should stay away from, and something I feel neither here nor there about. Let's try!

A Recommendation
I make good chili, man! You guys should try it. But the recommendation part is that instead of making corn bread with my chili, I make little corn pancakes that you put on top of your chili bowl and its like a little treat every time you take a bite. To make the corn pancakes, all you need is:

2 packages of Jiffy Corn Mix
1 egg
1 cup of Milk
2 tbspns of veg. oil

Mix em together, get your favorite frying pan really hot, put a little butter in the pan, and drop in tablespoon size drops of pancake batter. MMM MMM let em cook, turn em once, toss em on the top of your chili bowl. Man, people will be stolked!

Something you should stay away from
Too much NY1. I know. Those of you who are faithful readers must be shocked. Haha, as if you care that much. But really, you guys know how much I love NY1. But I feel as though with its repetitive nature you really keep hearing about the same horrific crimes over and over again. Just yesterday a woman killed her little boy and claims that demons made her do it. Okay, who needs that kind of trauma late at night and first thing in the morning?

Its neither here nor there
Bing, or a different kind of dumpling, was supposed to revolutionize W. 3rd St. next to the basketball courts. And it did for a minute. Every morning, noon, and night free bing sat out for all passer by. Rolls stuffed with spicy cabbage or pork. Free! Anyways, so I tried them. And I even bought one. They're a dollar. But they're really neither here nor there.

What a bore!

What a bore I have been! I'm serious, you'd think all I ever did was go to work and school. Oh.

You guys up to anything good? Dude, the election results are pretty awesome. They're calling this a referendum. Sounds good to me.

I watched Jon Steward and Steven Colbert's election coverage last night, while simultaneously reading the cover interview with them in the Rolling Stone magazine. It's like I can't get enough of these two.

Speaking of Rolling Stone, I mysteriously began to receive the magazine in my mailbox. Do you by any chance have anything to do with that? Silly blog reader - you don't need to get me any gifts. Just knowing that you are enjoying Coodence's World is gift enough for me.
